Programming Nanostructure Formation Through Furin‐Triggered Isopeptide Conversion and Peptide Self‐Assembly

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 26, Issue 1, January 2026.
A kinked isopeptide with a furin recognition sequence (RVRR) is designed to respond to the protease furin by transforming into a linear peptide that self‐assembles into elongated nanofibers. This study shows how enzyme‐triggered transformation of a synthetic kinked isopeptide enables precise and controlled nanostructure formation, offering new ...

New Arabic Records From Cairo on Supernovae 1181 and 1006

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 9, November 2025.
ABSTRACT The remnant of the historical supernova SN 1181 is under discussion: While the previously suggested G130.7+3.1 (3C58) appears too old (3000–5000 year), the unusual star IRAS00500+6713 with a surrounding nebula (Pa‐30) has an expansion age not inconsistent with a SN Iax explosion in ad 1181 under the assumption that neither acceleration nor ...

Linguistic Diversification and Rates of Change: Insights From a Diverse Sample of Sociolinguistic Studies

open access: yesLanguage and Linguistics Compass, Volume 19, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
ABSTRACT Language diversification and change can be studied using phylogenetic modelling of families over thousands of years, or by close observation of changes unfolding over a few decades at the community level. While the phylogenetic approach uses data from hundreds of languages to make cross‐linguistic generalisations, community‐level studies of ...

Light‐Triggered Disassembly of Peptide Nanostructures

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 16, September 12, 2025.
Two amphiphilic peptides incorporating anthracene as a light‐responsive moiety that assemble into 2D‐sheets or ribbons are designed. These nanostructures are disassembled upon irradiation with 365 nm light by bimolecular [4 + 4] cycloaddition. The reaction kinetics are depended on peptide preorganization, linking structure to reactivity.
