Nottingham Medieval Studies, 2010Strengleikar, the compilation of Old French narrative lays rendered into Old Norwegian in the thirteenth century, contains four items whose Old French sources have not survived. One is Strandar Strengleikr (‘The Lay of the Beach’), which largely fails to conform to the generic paradigms recognized by modern critics.

1980The nesting or pre-laying behaviour in a hen house with laying nests has been extensively studied, principally by Wood-Gush (1963, 1971) at the Poultry Research Centre in Edinburgh. I will give a general description of the complete pre-laying behaviour in a hen house with laying nests although not every detail is always seen.
