Phylotype Dynamics of Bacterial P Utilization Genes in Microbialites and Bacterioplankton of a Monomictic Endorheic Lake [PDF]
Microbes can modulate ecosystem function since they harbor a vast genetic potential for biogeochemical cycling. The spatial and temporal dynamics of this genetic diversity should be acknowledged to establish a link between ecosystem function and ...

Pollen determination from sediment core of Lake Alchichica in Mexico
The pollen samples were collected from a 57-cm-long sediment core retrieved from Lake Alchichica (19° 24' 38 N, 97° 24' 14 W, 2322 masl) at a water depth of ~ 60 m using a Uwitec® coring device equipped with a 9-cm coring tube. A total of 39 wet sediment

Gray value determination from sediment core of Lake Alchichica in Mexico
The grey values were measured from a 57-cm-long sediment core retrieved from Lake Alchichica (19° 24' 38 N, 97° 24' 14 W, 2322 masl) at a water depth of ~ 60 m using a Uwitec® coring device equipped with a 9-cm coring tube.

Deposition, burial and sequestration of carbon in an oligotrophic, tropical lake
The amount of biogenic carbon that may be deposited, buried and eventually preserved (sequestered) in the sediments of a tropical, oligotrophic lake, was evaluated based on i) the temporal variation of the particulate organic carbon (POC) concentration ...

Cletocamptus gomezi Suárez-Morales, Barrera-Moreno & Ciros-Pérez (2013) is a recently described new species of meiobenthic Harpacticoida copepod, micro-endemic to Lake Alchichica, Puebla, Central Mexico. Cletocamptus gomezi lives in saline water (K25 =12.6 mS cm-1) dominated by sodium, magnesium, chloride, and bicarbonate ions and markedly alkaline

"The distribution and abundance of organisms within a pond or lake can reflect the result of a variety of factors. We examined the abundance of the endemic fish, Poblana Alchichica, in Lago de Alchichica, Puebla, Mexico, as well as how the abundance varied among months. Dissolved oxygen, temperature, and salinity varied among months.
