Status and perspectives of the BAIKAL-GVD project

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
The neutrino telescope Baikal-GVD in Lake Baikal will be a research infrastructure aimed mainly at studying astrophysical neutrino fluxes. The telescope will consist of clusters of strings – functionally independent sub-arrays.

Evolution of Animal Parasitism in Nematodes of the Suborder Spirurina

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study reconstructs the evolutionary history of parasitism in Spirurina by integrating ancestral state reconstruction (ASR) with a comprehensive phylogenetic framework. Our analyses reveal clear patterns of hostswitching and major transitions in host associations, providing the first broad evolutionary perspective on parasitism within this group ...

Pan‐Continental Genomic Analysis of Eurasian Perch Uncovers Global Diversity Hotspots and Postglacial Recolonization Patterns

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
We reconstructed the postglacial recolonization history of Eurasian perch using mitochondrial and nuclear genomic data spanning Europe and Western Siberia. The analyses revealed multiple glacial refugia and extensive secondary admixture, reflecting a dynamic history of range expansion and contact among divergent lineages.

Lake Baikal and Russia's environmental policy process

open access: yes, 2017
Lake Baikal is an important environmental symbol in Russia, and one of the few cases to have attracted significant attention from environmentalists, the government, and the international community. While in many ways a unique case, the protection of Lake

STUDY OF PARAMETERS OF THE ICE-THERMAL REGIME OF LAKE BAIKAL USING REMOTE METHODS

open access: yesInterCarto. InterGIS, 2017
The surface temperature of the water and the characteristics of the ice cover are important parameters of the state of the ecosystem of the lake and one of the most important indicators that allow us to identify climate change.

Co-variability of the summer NDVIs on the eastern Tibetan Plateau and in the Lake Baikal region: Associated climate factors and atmospheric circulation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
The Tibetan Plateau and Siberia are both crucial regions in which the vegetation dynamics are sensitive to climate change. The variabilities in the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) over the two regions have been explored previously, but ...

Testing Models for Upper Mantle Earthquakes in the Tanganyika‐Rukwa Rift, Africa

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Rifts that initiate in mechanically strong, stable continental lithosphere are characterized by M > 5 earthquakes at depths >35 km near or below the crust mantle interface. Current models for deep rift zone earthquakes invoke elevated pore pressures associated with magmatism, and rapid stressing from magma intrusions.

Introduction to the Special Collection Through the Arctic Lens: Progress in Understanding the Arctic Ocean, Margins, and Landmasses

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The 9th International Conference on Arctic Margins, held in Ottawa, Canada, from 13–15 June 2022, convened under the theme Through the Arctic Lens, drawing renewed attention to the scientific, logistical, and environmental challenges inherent to geoscience research in the Arctic. This Special Collection presents a suite of studies spanning the
