Groundwater Rise Sustains the World's Largest Alpine Water System Under Global Warming [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Shallow groundwater depth (SGWD) across the non‐permafrost plains of the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau decreased at averagely 0.02 m year−1, adding 31.44 Gt of freshwater storage from 2000 to 2020 and sustaining ∼53 500 km2 of alpine ecosystems. A vadose‐zone capacity of 426.6 Gt reveals these aquifers as promising reservoirs, highlighting groundwater's ...

Study on the Technology of Preparing Active MgO and MOC from Magnesium Hydroxide

open access: yesKuangchan zonghe liyong, 2022
The salt lakes in Qaidam area are rich in magnesium resources. Along with the development and utilization of lithium and potassium resources a large amount of magnesium-rich by-products will be produced as by-products. In order to improve the utilization

dummyEnvironmental change of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau recorded in the Lake Qinghai sediments

open access: yesJournal of the Sedimentological Society of Japan, 2007
Lake Qinghai has thick layers of the sediment over the range of 10,000 years. In order to reconstruct the palaeoenvironment around the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, water content, TOC, OC isotopes of the sediment and ion concentration of Na+ and Cl- of the pore water were examined.

The hydration of Li+ and Mg2+ in subnano carbon nanotubes using a multiscale theoretical approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2023
The separation of brines with high Mg/Li mass ratios is a huge challenge. To provide a theoretical basis for the design of separation materials, the hydration of Li+ and Mg2+ in confinement using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as the 1-D nanopore model was ...

Changes in Qinghai Lake Area and Their Interactions with Climatic Factors

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
Lakes play a crucial role in the global water cycle and significantly contribute to enhancing regional ecological environments and simulating economic growth. In this study, based on the data from the Landsat TM 4-5, Landsat 7 ETM SLC-off, and Landsat 8-9 OLI/TIRS C2 L2 satellites, the surface area of Qinghai Lake is obtained by using the Normalized ...
