Lake Restoration: Medical Lake, Washington
ABSTRACT For several decades the thick algal scums and offensive odors of Medical Lake have limited its use. High phosphorus levels, resulting from internal cycling of the nutrient, were responsible for the excessive algal growth. Disruption of the cycle was achieved by whole-lake applications of aluminum sulfate.

Late Pliocene lakes and soils: a data-model comparison for the analysis of climate feedbacks in a warmer world [PDF]
Based on a synthesis of geological data we have reconstructed the global distribution of Late Pliocene soils and lakes which are then used as boundary conditions in a series of model experiments using the Hadley Centre General Circulation Model (HadCM3 ...

Objective Several case reports have proposed a potential association between COVID‐19 vaccination and the subsequent development of idiopathic inflammatory myositis (IIM). This study examined prior COVID‐19 vaccination in US veterans who developed new‐onset IIM compared to those without new‐onset IIM.

Release of CO2 and CH4 from lakes and drainage ditches in temperate wetlands [PDF]
Shallow fresh water bodies in peat areas are important contributors to greenhouse gas fluxes to the atmosphere. In this study we determined the magnitude of CH4 and CO2 fluxes from 12 water bodies in Dutch wetlands during the summer season and studied ...
