Long‐term cardiovascular outcomes of immune checkpoint inhibitor‐related myocarditis: A large single‐centre analysis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1237-1245, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are the cornerstone of modern oncology; however, side effects such as ICI‐related myocarditis (irM) can be fatal. Recently, Bonaca proposed criteria for irM; however, it is unknown if they correlate well with cardiovascular (CV) ICI‐related adverse events.

How much does the reduced electroencephalographic montage matter for seizure detection? A large‐cohort simulation study

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Subscalp electroencephalographic (EEG) systems with few channels have emerged as promising solutions for ultra‐long‐term seizure monitoring, but the impact of montage configuration on automated seizure detection is unclear. We compared automated detection performance between full‐scalp and simulated reduced montages approximating ...

Ketogenic diet fails to mitigate seizures and neuroinflammatory responses in a mouse model of virus‐induced epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The ketogenic diet (KD) is a high‐fat, low‐carbohydrate intervention widely used to treat drug‐resistant epilepsy, thought to reduce seizures through a combination of metabolic, neuronal, and microbiota‐dependent mechanisms. Additionally, recent studies suggest that the anticonvulsant effects of KD require the gut microbiota, with ...

Evaluation of water quality variation in lakes, rivers, and ex-mining ponds in Malaysia (review)

open access: yes, 2016
Threat posed by the heavy metals has been increasing globally rendering many water bodies unfit for human consumption. This could be due to the increase in concentrations of these metals above natural background.

Algal Blooms in Arkansas Streams, Ponds, and Lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Did you know that algae are a natural part of ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers? These organisms grow in the water (plankton) and on rocks, plants, and other surfaces (periphyton) and sometimes periphyton slough off into the water (seston).

Developmental and Behavioral Effects of Arsenobetaine in Zebrafish (Danio rerio)

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arsenobetaine (AsB) is a prevalent organoarsenical in aquatic environments and is generally regarded as nontoxic. Despite its widespread occurrence, the developmental and neurobehavioral toxicity of AsB has not been systematically investigated.

Flow Cytometric Lymphocyte Subset Enumeration for Lymphopenia Grading and C‐Reactive Protein‐Defined Inflammation Discrimination

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This study refines conventional lymphopenia grading by establishing optimized T‐cell cutoffs via flow cytometric lymphocyte subset profiling. Additionally, by evaluating individual subset performance (CD4+, CD8+, B, and NK cells), the framework integrates these counts to construct predictive models for infection‐associated inflammation.

Cultivating Collaborative Excellence: A Program Evaluation of a Faculty Development Initiative Over 4 Years

open access: yesJournal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives In response to growing faculty shortages and decreased professional engagement following the COVID‐19 pandemic, the Division of General Dentistry (DGD) at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry launched the Life‐Long Learners’ Program (L3P) in 2021.

High rates of carbon burial linked to autochthonous production in artificial ponds

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters
Ponds are globally abundant and important to the global carbon cycle. Although ponds have large greenhouse gas emissions, they also sequester carbon in their sediments.
