Oxygen transport in the llama (LAma glama)
Respiration Physiology, 1971Abstract Three male llamas 5–14 months old and born at sea level were studied first at 260 m altitude, and again after 5 and 10 weeks at 3420 m. Observations were made with the animals awake, standing and unsedated, at rest breathing air, acute hypoxia, acute hyperoxia and during treadmill exercise.

Cryopreservation of Llama (Lama glama) Semen
Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 1999ContentsIn order to test two extenders, and the effect of the addition of a surfactant and different freezing rates for cryopreservation of llama semen, the motility (MOT) and the integrity of acrosomes (NA) of 11 frozen ejaculates, collected with artificial vaginas from three llama males, were recorded.

Pharmacokinetics of ivermectin in llamas ( Lama glama )
Veterinary Record, 2002The pharmacokinetic behaviour of ivermectin was investigated in adult llamas ( Lama glama ) by using high performance liquid chromatography with a lower limit of quantification of 2 ng/ml to measure its concentration in serum.

Superovulatory responses to eCG in llamas (Lama glama ).
Theriogenology, 1995Llamas are copulation-induced single-ovulators, and multiple ovulation and embryo transfer (MOET) methods have not yet been developed for this species. Superovulatory responses to eCG given during an induced (Group A) or simulated (Group B) luteal phase were investigated using ultrasound to observe ovarian follicles and corpora lutea (CLs) and plasma ...

Use of cloprostenol as an abortifacient in the llama (Lama glama)
Theriogenology, 2000As part of a larger project investigating the development and heritability of choanal atresia glama), it was necessary to develop a protocol for aborting llamas at various stages of gestation. Twenty-seven animals between 4 and 7 mo of gestation were successfully aborted a total of 53 times following two 250 microg intramuscular injections of ...

Arteries of the Hindfoot of the Llama (Lama glama)
Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 2000SummaryThe objective of this study was to describe the arterial distribution of the hindfoot of the llama (Lama glama). Ten adult llamas, preserved in 6% formalin solution at 0°C, were dissected. The arterial system was perfused with a solution of 14% coloured plaster; the venous system was perfused with a solution of 17% coloured industrial gelatine ...

Somatic Sensory Cortex of Llama (Lama glama)
Brain, Behavior and Evolution, 2008The somatic sensory cortex (SI and SII) was mapped in llamas using microelectrode mapping methods developed earlier in a study of SI of the slow loris. Projections to SI from the llama''s prehensile browsing lips were differentially enlarged when compared to those reported for sheep.

Coccidia of the llama, Lama glama, in Colorado and Wyoming
Veterinary Parasitology, 1991Fecal samples were collected from 144 llamas, Lama glama, on four premises in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming. Feces were examined for the presence of coccidial oocysts; Eimeria alpacae was found in 55.6%, Eimeria lamae in 67.3% and Eimeria macusaniensis in 1.4% of the samples.

Granulosa cell tumour in a llama (Lama glama)
Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2022AbstractHormonally active tumours are characterized by production and secretion of hormones, irrespective of endogenous feedback mechanisms. An adult llama had exuberant oestrous behaviour, infertility, elevated concentrations of oestradiol and a large ovarian mass.

[Capillaries of the myocardium of Lama (Lama glama)].
Berliner und Munchener tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 2001The heart of 12 adult llamas, one female and 11 males, 2-7 years of age, was studied gross-anatomically (absolute and relative heart weight) and microscopic-anatomically (left and right ventricular wall, left auricle). Comparing the 9 younger animals (2-3 years old) with the 3 older llamas (5-7 years old) a significant increase of the absolute heart ...
