Consumer Perception of the Quality of Lamb and Lamb Confit [PDF]

open access: yesFoods, 2018
The patterns of food consumption in general and those of meat, in particular, are constantly changing. These changes are due not only to socio-economic and cultural trends that affect the whole society but also to the specific lifestyles of consumer groups.

Large‐Scale and Cost‐Effective Fabrication of Ultra‐Thin, Biodegradable Microelectrode Arrays and Pressure Sensors Using Laser Micromachining

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A mask‐free and cost‐effective UV‐pico‐second laser‐based microfabrication method is proposed to fabricate large‐area biodegradable microelectrode arrays and pressure sensors. These devices demonstrate low impedance, good conformability, excellent biocompatibility, and rapid degradation, providing a new route for next‐generation transient electronics ...

Ruminations Regarding Characteristics of Quintessential Adult Communicative Play

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences
Greene and Pruim’s (2023) theory of adult communicative play (TACP) was developed as an effort to address considerations of: (a) pattern and novelty, (b) interpersonal connection, and (c) enjoyment as they pertain to adult conversational activities by ...

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Dynamics of Bacterial Communities of Lamb Meat Packaged in Air and Vacuum Pouch during Chilled Storage

open access: yesFood Science of Animal Resources, 2019
In this study, the changes in microbial communities of lamb meat packaged in the air (plastic tray, PT) and in a vacuum pouch (VAC) were assessed by polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) during the storage at 4°C ...

Heme‐NO Dilates Arteries via Mobilization of NO Moieties From an Intracellular NO Store Within Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrosyl heme emerges as an extracellular nitrodilator that dilates arteries without crossing the cell membrane. Instead, heme‐NO mobilizes NO moieties from a preformed intracellular NO store within vascular smooth muscle, providing both functional and chemical evidence for the NANOS model, revealing a previously unrecognized mechanism of arterial ...

In a Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Cross-Over Study, Administration of 6 and 12 G Fortetropin® Does Not Reduce Serum Myostatin in Healthy Adult Dogs Over 72-Hours

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2021
Objective: To evaluate the effect of a single administration of 6 and 12 g of Fortetropin compared to placebo on serum myostatin in healthy, adult dogs over a 72-h period. Methods: Prospective, placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind, crossover study.

Impedance‐Matched High‐Overtone Thickness‐Shear Bulk Acoustic Resonators With Scalable Mode Volume

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bottom‐electrode‐free high‐overtone bulk acoustic resonator is achieved by lateral excitation of antisymmetric thickness‐shear modes on a lithium‐niobate‐on‐silicon platform. Planar electrode geometry eliminates conventional loading along the resonance path and confines acoustic energy within the electrode gap.

DNA methylation regulates growth traits by influencing metabolic pathways in Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei)

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background DNA methylation is a critical epigenetic modification that dynamically regulates gene expression associated with economic traits. Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the most important aquatic species for culturing, and ...
