Local lamellar structure in dense microemulsions

Physical Review B, 1988
The structure of the isotropic phase ${L}_{2}$ occurring in the ternary system sodium $\mathrm{di}\ensuremath{-}2\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{ethylhexylsulfosuccinate}(\mathrm{AOT})\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{water}\ensuremath{-}n\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{heptane}$ is discussed on the basis of small-angle x-ray scattering data.

The stability of lamellar structures

Metallurgical Transactions, 1972
The thermal stability of lamellar structures under creep or hot-working conditions is considered. It is suggested that the microstructural stability of the two-phase alloy can be altered by the introduction of boundaries formed by deformation and recovery processes.

Lamellar structures in neodymium borides

Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 2007
Samples with the nominal composition Nd{sub 2}B{sub 5} contain strongly disordered crystals composed of nanosized (100) lamellae. Most commonly, a polysynthetic twinning based on a fourfold rotation separates the lamellae at coherent boundaries. The structure of the twin interface contains a pseudo fourfold arrangement of B atoms as derived from ...

Surface potential domains on lamellar P3OT structures

Nanotechnology, 2008
In this work the electrostatic properties of poly(3-octylthiophene) thin films have been studied on a nanometer scale by means of electrostatic force microscopy and Kelvin probe microscopy (KPM). The KPM images reveal that different surface contact potential domains coexist on the polymer surface.

Lamellar structure of osteons demonstrated by microradiography

Experientia, 1953
Die Lamellen des Haverschen Systems wurden durch Rontgenmikroradiographie demonstriert. Lamellen mit hoher Rontgenabsorption wechseln mit solchen niedriger Absorption ab.

Formation of lamellar structures from spherical particles

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2009
We report disorder to lamellar transition in a system of spherically symmetric particles where the interparticle potential consists of a short-ranged attraction and a longer-ranged repulsion. The system provides a simplified model for aqueous dispersions of colloidal particles and globular proteins that may exhibit stable/metastable clusters or ...

Constrained deformation of a lamellar structure

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2007
Lamellar interfaces are efficient obstacles for propagating plastic deformation and can force the total strain to be parallel with the interfaces even if the shear stress acting on the interface plane is zero. This phenomenon of channelling plastic deformation deserves specific attention as it has important technological impacts.

Crystal structure of ultrathin lamellar precipitates

The Physics of Metals and Metallography, 2013
The crystal structure of lamellar precipitates formed in alloys 1213 (Al-Cu-Ag), V-1461 (Al-Cu-Li) and V-1469 (Al-Cu-Li-Ag) has been studied during age hardening. The experimental studies have been performed using transmission electron microscopy. The precipitates have {111} habits and thicknesses of several atomic planes.

Polymer Networks with Lamellar Structure

Macromolecules, 1998
The lamellar liquid crystalline phase of a pentaethylene glycol monododecyl ether (C12E5)/decane/water system is used as a matrix to create amphiphilic polymer network structures from α,ω-hydrophobically modified poly(oxyethylenes) bearing polymerizable end groups and hydrophobic comonomers.

Atomic growth mechanisms for lamellar structures

Ultramicroscopy, 1989
Abstract This paper will examine the role of interfacial structure in two lamellar phase transformations in solids, namely the pearlite and the discontinuous (cellular) reactions. Both transformations result in alternating plates of different composition and crystal structure. Other similarities between the two types of transformations will be noted.
