The Investigation of Latanoprost's Effects on the Intraocular Pressure of Healthy Male guinea Pigs Under Light and Dark Regimes

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 5, September 2025.
Latanoprost (0.005%) lowers intraocular pressure (IOP) more effectively in guinea pigs kept in darkness than in light. IOP reduction was significant at 7:00 and 8:00, with systemic absorption affecting untreated eyes. These results suggest that aligning treatment with circadian IOP variations may improve glaucoma management.

To generate the mean LC depth for each eye, LC depths were measured in 11 equally spaced horizontal B-scans and averaged.
