Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Challenges in Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a state‐of‐the‐art literature review on noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in hydrogen‐fuelled internal combustion engines. Studies published between 2011 and 2025 were screened, covering fundamental flame physics, test‐bench work, and recent prototype vehicles.

Power-Law Wrinkling Turbulence-Flame Interaction Model for Astrophysical Flames

open access: yes, 2014
We extend a model for turbulence-flame interactions (TFI) to consider astrophysical flames with a particular focus on combustion in type Ia supernovae.

Computational Analysis of Spray Angle Effects on Combustion and Emissions in Methane‐Diesel Dual‐Fuel Engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study concluded that wider spray angles produce wall impingement and greater unburned hydrocarbons in methane‐diesel dual‐fuel engines, whereas 110° balances efficiency and emissions. ABSTRACT A diesel methane dual fuel engine appears as a potential means for lowering emissions while retaining useful thermal efficiency.

Triple flame structure and diffusion flame stabilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The stabilization of diffusion ñames is studied using asymptotic techniques and numerical tools. The configuration studied corresponda to parallel streams of cold oxidizer and fuel initially separated by a splitter píate.

Non-linear simulations of combustion instabilities with a quasi-1D Navier-Stokes code

open access: yes, 2010
As lean premixed combustion systems are more susceptible to combustion instabilities than non-premixed systems, there is an increasing demand for improved numerical design tools that can predict the occurrence of combustion instabilities with high ...

Type Ia Supernova Explosion Models: Homogeneity versus Diversity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Type Ia supernovae (SN Ia) are generally believed to be the result of the thermonuclear disruption of Chandrasekhar-mass carbon-oxygen white dwarfs, mainly because such thermonuclear explosions can account for the right amount of Ni-56, which is needed ...

Sustainable Optimization of Emissions and Performance in Hydrogen Port Injection Diesel Engines Through Port Timing and Injection Duration Modulation

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Optimizing hydrogen port injection in diesel engines significantly improves efficiency and reduces emissions, demonstrating a sustainable dual‐fuel strategy for cleaner transportation solutions and lower environmental impact. ABSTRACT This study evaluates a single‐cylinder hydrogen port injection (HPFI) Diesel engine by systematically varying the ...

A STUDY ON THE INFLUENCE OF SHAPE OF BURNER ON THE MEASUREMENT OF THE LAMINAR BURNING VELOCITY [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة جامعة الانبار للعلوم الصرفة, 2012
In this research, three burners are manufactured in different shapes (rectangular, square and circular). By optical Schielren system, velocity of laminar flame diffusion is measured for the three burners to the Iraqi Liguid Petrol Gas (LPG) and the ...

Transient combustion modeling of an oscillating lean premixed methane/air flame [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The main objective of the present study is to demonstrate accurate low frequency transient turbulent combustion modeling. For accurate flame dynamics some improvements were made to the standard TFC combustion model for lean premixed combustion.
