Two‐Way Shape Memory Polymer Composite Gripper for Adaptive Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A two‐way shape memory polymer (SMP) composite is developed with intrinsic shape‐changing capability driven solely by temperature, eliminating external actuation loads. Embedding the SMP in a low‐stiffness elastomeric matrix enabled reversible transformations during heating and cooling cycles.

Architecture of an All‐In‐One Microfluidic Platform for Accelerated Cancer Seeding, Enhanced Spheroid Formation, and Dynamic Drug Screening Trials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one microfluidic platform consists of two‐layered PDMS channels integrated with a hydrogel microwell array. This platform enables flow‐driven tumor cell capture, enhanced spheroid formation within the microwells, and advective drug testing. ABSTRACT Effective cancer drug screening requires platforms that replicate the physiological complexity

Wave propagation in graphite/epoxy laminates due to impact [PDF]

open access: yes
The low velocity impact response of graphite-epoxy laminates is investigated theoretically and experimentally. A nine-node isoparametric finite element in conjunction with an empirical contact law was used for the theoretical investigation.

BUCKLING ANALYSIS OF LAMINATED COMPOSITE PLATES

open access: yesContemporary Materials
This paper deals with laminated plates subjected to uniaxial compression. The effects of lamination scheme and material properties on the critical loads are considered, as well as variations of boundary conditions and direction of the acting loads. The buckling analysis was conducted using the finite elements method implemented in the Simcenter Femap ...

Local delamination in laminates with angle ply matrix cracks. Part 1: Tension tests and stress analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
Quasi-static tension tests were conducted on AS4/3501-6 graphite epoxy laminates. Dye penetrant enhanced x-radiography was used to document the onset of matrix cracking and the onset of local delaminations at the intersection of the matrix cracks and the

Hydrogel Confinement Strategies for 3D Cell Culture in Microfluidic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hydrogel confinement structures are key to organizing 3D cell cultures in microfluidic devices. This review classifies five structural strategies (micropillar, phaseguide, porous membrane, stepped‐height, and support‐free) and examines their trade‐offs alongside fabrication methods.

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...
