One dimensional modelling of failure in laminated plates by delamination buckling [PDF]
When low speed objects impact composite laminated plates delamination may result. Under inplane compression such delaminations may buckle and tend to enlarge the delaminated area which can lead to loss of global plate stability.

Harmony Search Optimisation of Dispersed Laminated Composite Plates [PDF]
One of the major goals in the process of designing structural components is to achieve the highest possible buckling load of the structural component while keeping the cost and weight at a minimum. This paper illustrates the application of the harmony search algorithm to the buckling load maximisation of dispersed laminated composite plates with ...

Radial basis functions-finite differences collocation and a Unified Formulation for bending, vibration and buckling analysis of laminated plates, according to Murakami's zig-zag theory [PDF]
In this paper, we propose to use the Murakami's zig-zag theory for the static and vibration analysis of laminated plates, by local collocation with radial basis functions in a finite differences framework.

Stability state evaluation of composite three-layered annular plates with asymmetrical damage [PDF]
The paper presents the response of a three-layered annular plate with damaged laminated facings to the loads acting in their planes. The presented problem concerns the analysis of the combination of global plate failure in the form of buckling with the ...

Research on vibration noise of the composite laminated plate structure based on the FEM-BEM
Based on the FEM-BEM hybrid method, the effects of the angle of composite layer, number of layers and the opening position of a composite material and opening form are studied in order to get these three aspects’ influence law on the vibration and ...

Stability Optimization of Laminated Composite Plates [PDF]
This paper is concerned with the optimum design of plates with orthotropic layers under axial compression and shear. The plates considered are the laminates of N orthotropic layers whose principal material axes coincide with the plate axes. Each layer is assumed to have the same thickness and an equal number of fibers in the direction of +α_i and -α_i ...

Some results on thermal stress of layered plates and shells by using Unified Formulation [PDF]
This work presents some results on two-dimensional modelling of thermal stress problems in multilayered structures. The governing equations are written by referring to the Unified Formulation (UF) introduced by the first author.
