Transient Response of a Laminated Composite Plate

open access: yes, 1992
Propagation of guided waves in a laminated plate is of interest for ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation of defects and for material characterization. There is a need for a thorough understanding of the wave propagation characteristics in such a plate in order to use ultrasonic means to determine the material properties, assess damage, and characterize

Ultrafast (1‐5 sec) Lamination of Perovskite Solar Cells With Self‐Encapsulation Using Rapid Joule Heating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Halide perovskite solar cells are fabricated with self‐encapsulation by lamination between two glass substrates using rapid Joule heating, yielding a 99% reduction in lamination time compared to previous studies. An 18% efficient cell is laminated in 5 s, demonstrating the potential for scalable manufacturing. ABSTRACT Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are

An Accessible Microfluidic Platform for the Generation of Polarized Brain Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents an accessible double‐gradient microfluidic device that enables controlled morphogen delivery and spatially polarized differentiation in brain organoids. By integrating a pump‐free design and stable fabrication method, the platform generates dorsal–ventral neuronal asymmetry, offering a reproducible and versatile approach to model ...

Thermal Buckling Analysis of Laminated Composite Plates Using Four-Variable Refined Plate Theory

open access: yesJournal of Engineering
This paper investigates the thermal buckling of laminated composite plates based on a refined plate theory that incorporates four variables, using hyperbolic and polynomial shear strain functions for the first time to analyze thermal buckling of a ...

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Optimization of a Composite Wing Subject to Multi Constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this thesis, an investigation has been carried out into a minimum weight optimization analysis of a composite wing with multi design constraints under both static and dynamic loadings. The study includes the influence of a morphing leading edge on the

Additive‐Manufactured, Multifunctional Bioreactor Technology for Dynamic Culture of 3D Bioprinted Tissue Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We introduce an additively manufactured bioreactor with a perfusion flow system and integrated temperature and pH sensors for skeletal muscle tissue biofabrication. The bioreactor's performance was evaluated by assessing the viability, spreading of the myoblast cells in a printed scaffold, and contraction of the isolated murine musculi interossei ...

On composite shell models with a piecewise linear warping function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A multilayered shell model accounting for a piecewise linear (i.e. zig-zag) distribution of displacements through the laminate thickness is discussed.

Analysis of functionally graded sandwich plates using a new first-order shear deformation theory

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, a new first-order shear deformation theory is presented for functionally graded sandwich plates composed of functionally graded face sheets and an isotropic homogeneous core. By making a further assumption to the existing first-order shear
