Experimental study on residual mechanical properties after cyclic loading of steel-concrete composite-laminated beams

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2023
The cracking of concrete flanges in the negative bending moment region has always constrained the development of steel-concrete composite continuous beams. The proposal of steel-concrete composite-laminated beam is one of the effective ways to solve this

Lamins: ‘structure goes cycling’

open access: yesBiochemical Society Transactions, 2010
Nuclear intermediate filaments formed by A- and B-type lamins are central components of the nucleoskeleton and are required for the architecture and integrity of the nucleus. There is growing evidence that lamins are also involved in regulatory pathways controlling cell proliferation and differentiation.

The microstructure and corrosion resistance of SiC reinforced magnesium matrix composites with laminated gradient structure

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2021
The laminated gradient of the SiC reinforced Mg-MMCs has been report few. In this paper, the laminated gradient structure of Mg-3Al-3Sn + xSiC alloys (x = 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 wt%) were prepared via powder metallurgy and spark plasma sintering method, and

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

MARK4 enhances stress granule formation under oxidative stress and increases tau accumulation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MARK4 (red dots) localizes to stress granules (orange dots) and promotes their formation under oxidative stress by modulating TIA1 (blue dots). MARK4 and TIA1 synergistically increase tau (purple) accumulation, and the reduction of the TIA1 ortholog suppresses neurodegeneration in a fly model.
