Threaded rods grouted in beech laminated veneer lumber

Civil Engineering Design, 2022
AbstractGlued‐in rods are a class of adhesively bonded joints for timber engineering applications resulting in high‐strength and stiffness connections. However, the use of polymeric adhesives may lead to issues related if the temperatures exceed their glass transition temperature, restricting their performance under quasi‐static, or more critically ...

Tensile strength of thermally modified laminated strand lumber and laminated veneer lumber

Wood Material Science & Engineering, 2016
ABSTRACTLaminated strand lumber (LSL) and laminated veneer lumber (LVL) were thermally modified as a post-treatment at 140°C, 150°C, 160°C, 170°C, and 180°C. The tension modulus of elasticity (MOE) of LSL was not significantly impacted by the treatments, with the 180°C treatment group exhibiting the highest tension MOE (11.8 GPa).

Laminated Veneer Lumber from Acacia Hybrid

2019
Both Acacia mangium and Acacia auriculiformis are leguminous trees from the Mimosoideae sub-family, with A. mangium being categorized as pea flowering tree family species known as Fabaceae. The hybrid between these two Acacia species produces Acacia hybrid, which is more appealing than its parent trees in terms of its strength, durability, physical ...

Glued-in rods in beech laminated veneer lumber

European Journal of Wood and Wood Products, 2016
Beech laminated veneer lumber is a new engineered wood product with superior mechanical properties and high density. In order to take advantage of this superior mechanical performance in the case of connections with glued-in rods a series of pull compression tests with different angles to the grain have been performed applying both polyurethane and ...

Reliability Analysis of the Structural Laminated Veneer Lumber

Materials Science Forum, 2009
The structural Laminated Veneer Lumber(LVL) is a kind of high-performance eco-material used in the construction engineering structure. It has great significance to analyze the structural reliability for the design and manufacture of the structural LVL. In this paper, the modulus of elasticity and static bending strength of LVL manufactured by birch and
