Advancement in the Methods for Isolating High Quality RNA From Mouse and Rat Intervertebral Disc

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Isolating high‐quality RNA from intervertebral disc (IVD) tissue poses a challenge due to dense fibrocartilaginous extracellular matrix and naturally occurring endogenous RNases. High RNA quality is of paramount importance for accurate and reproducible molecular analyses, such as RNA sequencing.

Simultaneous Intracranial and Spinal Hemorrhage Following Tenecteplase Thrombolysis for ST‐Elevation Myocardial Infarction: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) hemorrhage is a serious complication of intravenous thrombolysis. Tenecteplase, a fibrin‐specific thrombolytic agent, has a lower risk of hemorrhage than other agents. We report the first documented case of simultaneous intracranial and spinal hemorrhage following intravenous administration of tenecteplase.

Syringopleural shunt placement in a pug with a cervical spinal diverticulum and associated syringomyelia

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
We report persistence of associated syringomyelia and formation of newly caudal spinal arachnoid diverticulum, following marsupialization surgery. We describe syringopleural shunt placement as a novel approach to treat both conditions in a Pug dog.

Bioresorbable Film for the Prevention of Adhesion to the Anterior Spine After Anterolateral Discectomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background context The development of scar tissue and adhesions postoperatively is a natural consequence of healing but can be associated with medical complications and render reoperation difficult.

A procedure for implanting a spinal chamber for longitudinal in vivo imaging of the mouse spinal cord. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Studies in the mammalian neocortex have enabled unprecedented resolution of cortical structure, activity, and response to neurodegenerative insults by repeated, time-lapse in vivo imaging in live rodents.

A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Postoperative Opioid Consumption, Pain and Complications Following Intraoperative Autonomic Nervous System‐Based Nociception Monitoring

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Autonomic nervous system–based nociception monitors have been proposed to optimise intraoperative opioid administration. While they reduce intraoperative opioid use, evidence on postoperative outcomes remains limited. We conducted a systematic review and meta‐analysis to evaluate their effects on postoperative pain, opioid ...

Ex vivo human brain volumetry: Validation of MRI measurements

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 2, Page 853-867, February 2026.
Abstract Purpose The volume of in vivo human brains is determined with various MRI measurement tools that have not been assessed against a gold standard. The purpose of this study was to validate the MRI brain volumes by scanning ex vivo, in situ specimens, which allows the extraction of the brain after the scan to compare its volume with the gold ...
