Alternative Splicing Regulation in Metabolic Disorders

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 26, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Alternative splicing (AS) is a fundamental mechanism for enhancing transcriptome diversity and regulating gene expression, crucial for various cellular processes and the development of complex traits. This review examines the role of AS in metabolic disorders, including obesity, weight loss, dyslipidemias, and metabolic syndrome.

Survival benefits with EPIC in addition to HIPEC for low grade appendiceal neoplasms with pseudomyxoma peritonei: a propensity score matched study

open access: yesPleura and Peritoneum, 2023
Appendiceal cancer is a rare malignancy, occurring in roughly 1.2 per 100,000 per year. Low grade appendiceal neoplasams (LAMN) in particular can lead to pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), and respond poorly to systemic chemotherapy.

Mucocele of the Appendix Secondary to Chronic Appendicitis: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Chronic appendicitis leading to mucocele of appendix, though rare and often mimicking malignancy, can present with benign histopathology. Multidisciplinary correlation of clinical, imaging, intraoperative, and histopathological findings is critical to avoid misdiagnosis and guide conservative management in atypical presentations.

Molecular Profiling of Low‐Grade Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasms (LAMN)

open access: yesGenes, Chromosomes and Cancer
ABSTRACTLow‐grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasia (LAMN) represents a relatively rare tumor of the appendix typically diagnosed incidentally through appendectomy for acute appendicitis. In cases where perforation occurs, mucinous content may disseminate into the abdominal cavity, leading to the development of pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP).

Evaluating Respiratory Complications Following Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy With Subphrenic Peritonectomy Versus Full Thickness Diaphragm Resection

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, Volume 132, Issue 2, Page 260-266, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Patients with diaphragm tumor deposits undergoing cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) require subphrenic peritonectomy (SPP) or full‐thickness diaphragm resection (FTR) to achieve complete cytoreduction.

Self‐assembly of short biopeptides onto skin tissue components studied using QCM‐D

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 47, Issue 4, Page 554-562, August 2025.
An understanding of the interactions of the skin care products with skin tissue will enable rational design more effective products. We show the use of Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation (QCM‐D) to monitor in real time the adsorption behaviour of oligopeptides used in the cosmetic industry onto the components in skin tissue.

Cellular origins of mucinous ovarian carcinoma

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 266, Issue 1, Page 9-25, May 2025.
Abstract Mucinous ovarian carcinoma (MOC) is a rare histotype of epithelial ovarian cancer. Its origins are obscure: while many mucinous tumours in the ovary are metastases from the gastrointestinal tract, MOC can occur as an ovarian primary; however, the cell of origin is not well established.

Low grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm : A case series of 12 cases with review of literature

open access: yesJournal of Pathology of Nepal
Background: Low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN) is a rare epithelial tumour of the appendix, accounting for 1% of gastrointestinal neoplasms and found in less than 0.3% of appendectomy specimens. It is histologically characterized by a villous

Low-Grade Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasm Involving the Endometrium and Presenting with Mucinous Vaginal Discharge

open access: yesCase Reports in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2016
Primary appendiceal mucinous lesions are uncommon and represent a spectrum from nonneoplastic mucous retention cysts to invasive adenocarcinoma. Low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasms (LAMNs) represent an intermediate category on this spectrum and can ...
