Taming the Immiscibility of Gold, Iron, and Boron to Craft Chemodegradable Nanoparticles for Multimodal Imaging and Radiotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Over half of cancer patients undergo radiotherapy. Laser ablation enabled the synthesis of immiscible Au‐Fe‐B nanoparticles designed as degradable bimodal radiosensitizers for X‐ray radiotherapy (XRT), boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), and bimodal imaging for X‐ray computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These nanosensitizers

Limited asset market participation: does it really matter for monetary policy? [PDF]

open access: yes
We study the design of monetary policy in an economy characterized by staggered wage and price contracts together with limited asset market participation (LAMP). Contrary to previous results, we find that once nominal wage stickiness, an incontrovertible

A New 3D Colon on a Chip to Decipher the Influence of Mechanical Forces on the Physiological Cellular Ecosystem

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
To dissect how mechanical forces influence intestinal physiology, we developed a stretchable 3D colon‐on‐chip that integrates tunable topography, stiffness and peristalsis‐like motion within a physiologically relevant microenvironment. We showed that stretching is a dominant factor governing epithelial behavior, markedly enhancing proliferation and ...

Clinico-dermoscopic study and comparative evaluation with Wood’s Lamp as a diagnostic tool in patients with melasma

open access: yesPigment International
Background: Melasma is a common acquired facial hypermelanosis. While mostly diagnosable clinically, Wood’s lamp and dermoscopy can aid in differentiating melasma types based on pigment distribution. Aims: To study the clinico-dermoscopic distribution of

Molecular Design of Highly Efficient Heavy‐Atom‐Free Near‐Infrared Cyanine Photosensitizers for Fluorescence Image‐Guided Photodynamic Therapy of Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Highly efficient heavy‐atom‐free NIR photosensitizers based on a heptamethine cyanine platform were developed for image‐guided photodynamic therapy. Both in vitro and in vivo results revealed that the R820‐3 photosensitizer with a highly twisted molecular structure exhibited potential for NIR fluorescence image‐guided photodynamic cancer therapy ...

Oxygen Supply of Islets of Langerhans by Photosynthetically Active Microalgae in Bioprinted Co‐Cultures Maintains Their Function in a Hypoxic Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed a bioprinted co‐culture system embedding rat pancreatic islets and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae spatially defined in close vicinity. Red light was found optimal to ensure microalgal photosynthesis while maintaining islet viability and functionality. A tailored co‐culture medium supported both cell types.
