Electronic Structure Reorganization in MPS3 via d‐Shell‐Selective Alkali Metal Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Alkali metal doping of layered MPS3 antiferromagnets reveals d‐shell‐selective responses. While MnPS3 resists charge transfer due to its half‐filled 3d5 shell, FePS3 and NiPS3 behave similarly to CoPS3 by accommodating extra d‐electrons. Yet only CoPS3, with its least stable d‐shell, undergoes pronounced band restructuring and a semiconducting‐to ...

Quantification of Soil–Water Erosion Using the RUSLE Method in the Mékrou Watershed (Middle Niger River)

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
Despite nearly a century of research on water-related issues, water erosion remains one of the greatest threats to soil health and soil ecosystem services around the world.

Changing land use

open access: yes, 2007

SPATIAL DEPENDENCE AMONG COUNTY-LEVEL LAND USE CHANGES [PDF]

open access: yes
Spatial econometric methods are used to investigate whether land use changes in one county are affected by changes in surrounding counties. Spatial dependence is hypothesized to arise from land substitution effects among neighboring counties.

An Increasing Misalignment Between Crop Distribution and Environmental Resources Under Climate Change in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Climate change reshapes the spatial alignment between crop production and environmental resources. Using multi‐source data and a crop model, integrated climatic, water, and soil endowments for maize and wheat are quantified and compared with harvest distributions.

Crop-livestock-climate nexus: intensification pathways under different climate realizations in the Sahel, West Africa

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications
Competition between crops and livestock farming systems escalates due to changing land use patterns driven by climate change in the Sahel of West Africa’s, particularly the Volta and Niger River basins.

Land use, urban, environmental, and cartographic applications, chapter 2, part D [PDF]

open access: yes
Microwave data and its use in effective state, regional, and national land use planning are dealt with. Special attention was given to monitoring land use change, especially dynamic components, and the interaction between land use and dynamic features of

Coupled Above‐ and Belowground Ecosystem Stability Worldwide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Are the worlds above and below our feet in sync? This global exploration reveals an entangled fate between above‐ and belowground ecosystem stability. It identifies arid regions as hotspots for this coupling and highlights temperature stability as a vital safeguard for maintaining ecosystem balance across our warming planet.

Bioenergy Cropping Reduces the Spatiotemporal Scaling of Soil Bacterial Biodiversity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Consistent with patterns observed in plant and animal communities, soil bacterial communities exhibit significant species–time–area and phylogenetic–time–area relationships independent of nested structure. Bioenergy cropping significantly reduces the spatiotemporal scaling rates, particularly in sandy loam soils.
