Changes in habitat quality of nature reserves in depopulating areas due to anthropogenic pressure: Evidence from Northeast China, 2000–2018

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2022
The increasing human impact on the global environment has led to biodiversity decline and species extinction. The establishment of nature reserves is recognized as the most effective way to minimize human disruption and curb continuing threats to the ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Toward Responsible Land Administration

open access: yes, 2015
The motivation of the coeditors of this book came from several observations and experiences in land administration throughout the world. The first is the recognition that many titling programs do not seem to generate the anticipated results, either because the speed with which titles or some form of land rights are delivered is far from sufficient or ...
