New craniodental materials of Falcarius utahensis (Theropoda: Therizinosauria) reveal patterns of intraspecific variation and cranial evolution in early coelurosaurians

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite documented ecomorphological shifts toward an herbivorous diet in several coelurosaurian lineages, the evolutionary tempo and mode of these changes remain poorly understood, hampered by sparse cranial materials for early representatives of major clades. This is particularly true for Therizinosauria, with representative crania best known

Land Use and Land Cover Change of Ghana

IGARSS 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2020
Land use and cover change (LUCC) is a central component in current strategies for managing natural resources and monitoring environmental change. In this paper, we used maximum likelihood classification algorithm to obtain the supervised land use and cover classification. Four major land use and cover classes are identified and mapped from 2000 to 2015.

Land cover and land-cover change from MODIS

1995 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, IGARSS '95. Quantitative Remote Sensing for Science and Applications, 2002
The MODIS land cover and land-cover change products are global products that will be derived from MODIS data following the launch of the MODIS instrument in 1998. The land cover product will provide about 20 classes of land cover based largely on major life-form vegetation types.

Land cover change detection

Proceedings of the 14th ACM SIGKDD international conference on Knowledge discovery and data mining, 2008
The study of land cover change is an important problem in the Earth Science domain because of its impacts on local climate, radiation balance, biogeochemistry, hydrology, and the diversity and abundance of terrestrial species. Most well-known change detection techniques from statistics, signal processing and control theory are not well-suited for the ...

Modeling Land-Use and Land-Cover Change

2006
The decade since the initiation of the Land-Use/Cover Change (LUCC) project in 1995 (see Chap. 1) has witnessed considerable advances in the field of modeling of land-use/cover change. The science plan of the project indicated that the major task would be the development of a new generation of land-use/cover change models capable of simulating the ...

Land Cover Change

2011
The present chapter discusses an analysis of land cover change based on the enhanced transition matrix, and provides a detailed interpretation of the results of the case study chosen: a protected area in the region of Madrid (central Spain) between 1990 and 2000. The method adopted introduces concepts and indicators to study the statistical information

The use of land cover change likelihood for improving land cover classification

2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017
The likelihood of transitions between pairs of land cover and land use classes in a given time interval and environmental context can be used to impose classification restrictions on an image or to evaluate results. This study presents a methodology for using the likelihood of transitions between classes to improve land cover classification, given a ...

Statistical Monitoring of Changes to Land Cover

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2018
Accurate detection of changes in land cover leads to better understanding of the dynamics of landscapes. This letter reports the development of a reliable approach to detecting changes in land cover based on remote sensing and radiometric data. This approach integrates the multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) chart with support ...
