The effect of vegetation patterns on Aeolian mass flux at regional scale: a wind tunnel study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Although insight on the effect of vegetation pattern on Aeolian mass transport is essential for re-planting degraded land, only limited knowledge on this effect is available.

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Global Nitrogen Deposition Promotes Carbon Sink Formation in Terrestrial Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrogen deposition alleviates ecosystem N limitation and enhances carbon sinks. Using 829 observations, we show 36% of deposited N is retained globally (39.15 Tg N yr−1), with distinct NHx and NOy contributions. This retention drives a terrestrial C sink of 0.88 Pg C yr−1 (25.48%), highlighting the importance of pool‐specific C:N stoichiometry ...

Stem-root flow effect on soil–atmosphere interactions and uncertainty assessments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
. Soil water can rapidly enter deeper layers via vertical redistribution of soil water through the stem–root flow mechanism. This study develops the stem–root flow parameterization scheme and coupled this scheme with the Simplified Simple Biosphere model

Mapping the “Supply–Demand–Flow” of Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Management in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a “supply–demand–flow” framework clarifies how ecosystem services move between regions by distinguishing potential and actual supply and demand. Using integrated biophysical–socioeconomic modeling, nine services in China were mapped.

Over three decades of land distribution in South Africa: a review of progress, challenges and prospects

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
South Africa’s land reform program, initiated in 1994, has unfolded over more than three decades (1994–2025) and remains a central pillar of post-apartheid transformation.

A millennium of arable land use – the long-term impact of tillage and water erosion on landscape-scale carbon dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesSOIL
In the last decades, soils and their agricultural management have received great scientific and political attention due to their potential to act as a sink of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2).

Matrix Land Use Analysis - a Case Study of Landscape Changes in Israeli Carmel Area [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The spatial redistribution of the land uses can be measured by remote sensing conventional methods in the form of the matrices of the land uses redistributions within a given set of regions in a given time period. Two new methods of analysis of such land

Enhancing Li‐S Battery Performance Through Low‐Concentration Electrolytes with Organic Se/Te Co‐Additives to Address Solubility and Kinetic Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a low‐concentration electrolyte enabled by hybrid organic Se/Te additives (DPDSe/DPDTe) that restructures solvation, boosts polysulfide dissolution, and provides dual‐site synergistic catalysis, delivering high capacity and stable cycling in Li–S coin and pouch cells, supporting high‐energy, high‐power operation.
