Affinity‐Based Interactome Mapping of Inositol Pyrophosphates Reveals 4/6‐PP‐InsP5‐Binding Proteins in Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inositol pyrophosphates (PP‐InsPs) are central regulators of eukaryotic signaling events. While certain PP‐InsP isomers have been conclusively linked to the regulation of phosphate homeostasis through interaction with SPX domain‐containing proteins in plants, the functions of the recently discovered isomer 4/6‐PP‐InsP5 remain largely unknown ...

Explaining vineyard specialization in the province of Barcelona (Spain) in the mid-19th century [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a statistical model of agrarian vineyard specialization in the province of Barcelona towards 1860, that combines the Boserupian push of population increase, the demand pull of a Smithian-type of growth (measured by the time-distances to the ...

Land Suitability Assessment of Green Infrastructure Development

open access: yesTeMA: Journal of Land Use, Mobility and Environment, 2019
Urban green space, an integral part of urban ecosystems, provides important environmental and social services that mitigate environmental problems caused by rapid urbanisation and urban sprawl. Urban planning and policy aim at optimising the benefits obtained from urban green spaces.

High‐Density and Scalable Graphene Hall Sensor Arrays Through Monolithic CMOS Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores strategies to create high‐density arrays of graphene Hall‐effect magnetic field sensors through monolithic integration with silicon CMOS biasing and multiplexing circuitry. High sensor yield and magnetic sensing performance are achieved through careful choices in the custom CMOS chip design and the graphene integration process.

Does Land Abundance Explain African Institutions? [PDF]

open access: yes
I show how abundant land and scarce labor shaped African institutions before colonial rule. I present a model in which exogenous suitability of the land for agriculture and endogenously evolving population determine the existence of land rights, slavery,

Designing Cost‐Effective Carbon Payments to Induce Cellulosic Feedstock Production for Sustainable Aviation Fuel

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Perennial bioenergy crops, such as miscanthus and switchgrass, and crop residues have the potential to scale up sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and mitigate carbon emissions. However, high establishment costs, delayed returns, and risk–return profiles that diverge from those of conventional crops can hinder incentives to adopt ...
