Foxnut (makhana): a productive and economic crop providing good niche for soil carbon storage and stability in lower Gangetic wetlands

open access: yesScientific Reports
Commercial crop Foxnut (makhana) cultivation is being popularized for the productive utilization of wetlands in eastern India. Here, the impact of two different cropping on organic C (OC) stock, stability, exogenous C input by crops, system yield, and ...

An index to characterize the spatial distribution of land use within watersheds and implications for river network nutrient removal and export [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The spatial distribution of land use and associated nutrient inputs may influence the efficacy of in-stream nutrient removal; however, the effect of source location on N removal and watershed N export has not been quantified.

Meniscus Pixel Printing for Contact‐Lens Vision Sensing and Robotic Control

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A visual‐sensing contact lens is enabled by meniscus pixel printing (MPP), which rapidly patterns a 200 µm perovskite photodetector pixel in 1 s without masks, vacuum processing, or bulky equipment. A deep‐learning‐based super‐resolution reconstructs sparse on‐lens signals into 80 × 80 high‐resolution visual information, while AI‐driven eye‐tracking ...

Land, Land Use and Competitiveness [PDF]

open access: yes
Land costs account for a significant proportion of the total costs for many agricultural products that are traded internationally, especially for the major grain crops that the U.S. exports in competition with several other countries. For owner-operators,

Archetypes of land transformations and trajectories of ecosystem services in mountains. [ID660] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Based on a synthesis of 51 cases of temporal changes in land use and ecosystem services within mountain landscapes, we analyze how changes in land-use intensity influence the supply of ten key services and we describe six typical archetypes. Our analysis

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...
