Land use and land cover change modelling
2014Forest fires result from a number of interacting factors like ignitions, conditions amenable for fire initiation and spread, and landscapes with vegetation (i.e., fuels) that can support the combustion process. In Europe, most fires occur in the southern countries with a Mediterranean climate.

Impact of land cover and land use change on runoff characteristics
Journal of Environmental Management, 2015Change in Land Cover and Land Use (LCLU) influences the runoff characteristics of a drainage basin to a large extent, which in turn, affects the surface and groundwater availability of the area, and hence leads to further change in LCLU. This forms a vicious circle.

Land use/land cover changes are occurring at greater pace than ever before in human history. Within the context of land use/land cover change, changes to forest cover are extremely important particularly for rich biodiversity hotspots. This chapter addresses the question: what is the quantum of forest cover loss in the the Hamren sub-division, the Rani-

Modeling Land Use and Land Cover Change
2012Models are used in a variety of fields, including land change science, to better understand the dynamics of systems, to develop hypotheses that can be tested empirically, and to make predictions and/or evaluate scenarios for use in assessment activities.

Land-use and land-cover change in Western Ghats of India
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2016The Western Ghats (WG) of India, one of the hottest biodiversity hotspots in the world, has witnessed major land-use and land-cover (LULC) change in recent times. The present research was aimed at studying the patterns of LULC change in WG during 1985-1995-2005, understanding the major drivers that caused such change, and projecting the future (2025 ...

Urban Land Use Land Cover Change
2017Indian cities are on the cross roads of rapid urban growth, which calls for meticulous and everlasting urban spatial planning. Cities live for longer and it should be compatible for the future growth. The previous mistakes committed in the land use planning have lead to many serious issues like floods (e.g., Chennai 2015 and Mumbai 2005 Floods) fire ...

Prediction of land use/land cover change methods: A study
2017 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP), 2017Prediction of Land use and cover change using remotely sensed imagery has attracted huge attention. From several decades, multiple researchers have investigated different approaches. The complex nature of the land use change process, due to human-nature interactions and the singularities of satellite images, demands a well-studied approach.

Global Change Biology, 2013
AbstractLand‐use change is both a cause and consequence of many biophysical and socioeconomic changes. The CLUMondo model provides an innovative approach for global land‐use change modeling to support integrated assessments. Demands for goods and services are, in the model, supplied by a variety of land systems that are characterized by their land ...

Land use/land cover: inventory and change
1985Land use information is an important input to a host of planning decisions and for this reason has been gathered by various levels of government for many years. Existing land uses, because of their strong influence on how land will be used in the future, are a crucial element in the development of a land use or land development plan.

Global Warming and the Economics of Land-Use and of Land-Cover Change
2003Land-use and land-cover change (LUCC) is driven by a combination of: (1) biophysical factors which determine the capability of land use; (2) technological and economic considerations which determine the socioeconomic feasibility of land use and (3) institutional and political arrangements which determine the acceptability
