Multifunctional Evaluation and Spatio-temporal Evolution Analysis of Cultivated Land in Guangdong Province

open access: yesGuangdong nongye kexue
【Objective】The study aims to investigate the spatio-temporal dynamics of cultivated land use functions in 21 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province, and to promote the sustainable utilization of cultivated land resources and optimal allocation of ...

A Functional Land Management conceptual framework under soil drainage and land use scenarios

open access: yesEnvironmental Science & Policy, 2016
AbstractAgricultural soils offer multiple soil functions, which contribute to a range of ecosystem services, and the demand for the primary production function is expected to increase with a growing world population. Other key functions on agricultural land have been identified as water purification, carbon sequestration, habitat biodiversity and ...

Photothermal Macroporous Lignin Cryogels for Off‐Grid, Continuous Atmospheric Water Collection via Interlayer Heat Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photothermal, macroporous lignin‐based cryogels are engineered to convert sunlight into low‐grade heat. Integrated as stacked beds in a drum‐type device, a thin copper interlayer transfers waste heat between beds, enabling interlayer heat recovery and continuous solar cycling.

MODELING NONNEGATIVITY VIA TRUNCATED LOGISTIC AND NORMAL DISTRIBUTIONS: AN APPLICATION TO RANCH LAND PRICE ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yes
This study presents an empirical method of modeling the nonnegativity of dependent variables using truncated logistic and normal disturbance distributions. The method is applied in estimating a ranch land hedonic price function.

From Mechanics to Electronics: Influence of ALD Interlayers on the Multiaxial Electro‐Mechanical Behavior of Metal–Oxide Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin AlOxHy interlayers between aluminum films and polymer substrates significantly improve electro‐mechanical properties of flexible thin film systems. By precisely controlling interlayer thickness using atomic layer deposition, this study identifies an optimal interlayer thickness of 5–10 nm that enhances ductility and delays cracking.

Genetic Land - Modeling land use change using evolutionary algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes
Future land use configurations provide valuable knowledge for policy makers and economic agents, especially under expected environmental changes such as decreasing rainfall or increasing temperatures, or scenarios of policy guidance such as carbon ...

Start, Stop, Rewind, Repeat—Cyclic Exposure of Adipose Stromal Cells‐derived Cartilage Organoids to Chondrogenic and Proliferative Cues to Achieve Scaled‐up and Customizable Bone Formation by Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study exploits the plasticity of ASCs‐derived cartilage organoids which generate a perichondrial layer of MSCs when exposed to cyclic chondrogenic/proliferative cues. Using these organoids as building blocks, we develop (i) Phalange Shaped Tissue Engineered Cartilage (Pa‐TECs), recapitulating endochondral ossification suitable for the treatment of
