Interfacial Passivation for Enhanced Moisture Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells: Ammonium or Sulfonium?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
By directly comparing the impact of dual interfacial passivation by ammonium‐, sulfonium‐ and sulfoxonium‐based cations on the performance and stability of triple cation metal halide perovskite solar cells, it is found that it is the exact molecular structure of the cation, rather than the nature of the onium that influences the efficacy of passivation

Enhancing Near Real Time AI-NWP Hurricane Forecasts: Improving Explainability and Performance Through Physics-Based Models and Land Surface Feedback [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Hurricane track forecasting remains a significant challenge due to the complex interactions between the atmosphere, land, and ocean. Although AI-based numerical weather prediction models, such as Google Graphcast operation, have significantly improved hurricane track forecasts, they currently function as atmosphere-only models, omitting critical land ...

Tailoring Gel Polymer Electrolytes for Advancing Quasi‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A UV‐curable gel polymer electrolyte featuring a PEGDA/PEGMA crosslinked network is developed for quasi‐solid‐state lithium batteries. Tuning the curing time enables enhanced ionic conductivity, Li⁺ transference, and interfacial stability, leading to stable lithium plating/stripping and long‐cycle performance in both half and full cells.

Photonic Crystal Enhanced Microscopy on a 2D Photonic Crystal Surface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
This work demonstrates the design, fabrication, and the first‐time test of a 2D photonic crystal surface for photonic resonator absorption microscopy. The designed surface uniformly enhances electromagnetic near fields, achieving > 100% improved detecting uniformity for surface‐captured AuNPs from a blocking biosensor assay aimed for detecting SARS‐CoV‐

The Impact of DNA as a Chemical Admixture for Cementitious Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
DNA molecules are added to cement pastes and their effects on rheology and hydration time are studied. DNA's chemical structure is composed of polysaccharide and phosphate groups, which are active functional groups in different commercial chemical admixtures: Viscosity modifiers and superplasticizers.
