From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Enhanced oscillation lifetime of a Bose–Einstein condensate in the 3D/1D crossover
We have measured the damped motion of a trapped Bose–Einstein condensate, oscillating with respect to a thermal cloud. The cigar-shaped trapping potential provides enough transverse confinement that the dynamics of the system are intermediate between ...

Steep‐Switching Memory FET for Noise‐Resistant Reservoir Computing System
We demonstrate the steep‐switching memory FET with CuInP2S6/h‐BN/α‐In2Se3 heterostructure for application in noise‐resistant reservoir computing systems. The proposed device achieves steep switching characteristics (SSPGM = 19 mV/dec and SSERS = 23 mV/dec) through stabilization between CuInP2S6 and h‐BN.

Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Studies of Topological Insulators Grown by Molecular Beam Epitaxy
We summarize our recent scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) study of topological insulator thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), which includes the observation of electron standing waves on topological insulator surface and the Landau ...

Inertial-Hall effect: the influence of rotation on the Hall conductivity
Inertial effects play an important role in classical mechanics but have been largely overlooked in quantum mechanics. Nevertheless, the analogy between inertial forces on mass particles and electromagnetic forces on charged particles is not new.

Quantum oscillations in Kondo Insulator SmB$_6$ [PDF]
In Kondo insulator samarium hexaboride SmB$_6$, strong correlation and band hybridization lead to an insulating gap and a diverging resistance at low temperature. The resistance divergence ends at about 5 Kelvin, a behavior recently demonstrated to arise

Universal Conductance Fluctuations in Quantum Anomalous Hall Insulators
Universal conductance fluctuations are observed in mesoscopic quantum anomalous Hall insulators. Two distinct fluctuation patterns are identified, arising from different interference processes of bulk and chiral edge states, respectively. These findings unveil rich quantum interference phenomena in quantum anomalous Hall insulators and provide insights

Photonic Landau levels in an astigmatic frequency-degenerate laser
Landau levels refer to the quantization of electron energy levels under magnetic fields which have recently been extended to photonic systems through the judicious design of pseudomagnetic fields.

Cyclotron orbit knot and tunable-field quantum Hall effect
From a semiclassical perspective, the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization of the closed cyclotron orbits for charged particles such as electrons in an external magnetic field gives rise to discrete Landau levels and a series of fascinating quantum Hall ...
