The method of intelligent wireless sensor to improve the water permeability of permeable asphalt concrete pavement

open access: yesIET Networks, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract This research aims to study the intelligent wireless sensor to improve the water permeability of permeable asphalt concrete pavement. The water permeability of pavement is extremely important for the traffic environment. This study first briefly introduces the background and significance analysis, and then exemplifies the deployment algorithm ...

Macroclimate and Topography Interact to Influence the Abundance of Divaricate Plants in New Zealand

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
The abundance of the divaricate growth form in New Zealand has been interpreted as either (a) the response of an isolated flora to cool, dry, Plio-Pleistocene climates; or (b) a defense against large browsing birds (moa) that were hunted to extinction ...

Consequence of interaction between soil erosion processes and dryland landforms [PDF]

open access: yesSustainable Earth Trends, 2021
Soil is directly linked to climate through the exchange of carbon between the atmosphere and the pedosphere. Anthropogenic-geomorphic disturbances and accelerated soil erosion processes stimulate spatial heterogeneity in the distribution of soil biotic ...

Synchronous Satellites of Venus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Synchronous satellites of Venus have long been thought unstable, but we use Poincare's surface of section technique to show that synchronous quasi-satellites orbiting just outside Venus' Hill sphere are quite stable, at least for centuries. Such synchrosats always remain within a few degrees of Venus' equator, and drift very slowly in longitude.

Integrating plot‐based and remotely sensed data to map vegetation types in a New Zealand warm‐temperate rainforest

open access: yesApplied Vegetation Science, Volume 25, Issue 4, October/December 2022., 2022
We demonstrated a new workflow to extend and map a national classification into a new area. Three associations could be mapped using remotely sensed predictors alone (Sentinel and LiDAR), whereas two also required environmental predictors. Our map will guide the indigenous peoples of the area to manage threats to valued communities and their species ...

Gridmapping the northern plains of Mars: Geomorphological, Radar and Water-Equivalent Hydrogen results from Arcadia Plantia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A project of mapping ice-related landforms was undertaken to understand the role of sub-surface ice in the northern plains. This work is the first continuous regional mapping from CTX (“ConTeXt Camera”, 6 m/pixel; Malin et al., 2007) imagery in Arcadia ...
