The Natick Landform Classification System

1974
Abstract : This report provides a description of the landform classification system developed by the US Army Natick Laboratories for AMSAA environmental evaluations, employing maximum hill height, model hill height, and number of positive features per mile as criteria, together with the development rationale and limitations.

Using the landform tool to calculate landforms for hydrogeomorphic wetland classification at a country-wide scale

South African Geographical Journal, 2014
Hydrogeomorphic approaches to wetland classification use landform classes to distinguish wetland functionality at a regional scale. Space-borne radar technology enabled faster regional surveying of surface elevations to digital elevation models, which allowed for automated terrain attribute and landform classification using geographical information ...

Classification and terminology of morainic landforms in Finland

Boreas, 1977
The terms assigned to Finnish morainic landforms were frequently originally established for areas where the glacial environment was different from that in Finland. The terms therefore are not always applicable to the conditions found here and there is a need for some revision. Some new proposals are presented in this paper. The term cover moraine could

Glacial Landform Classification with Vision Transformer and Digital Elevation Model

IGARSS 2024 - 2024 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium
Klasyfikacja polodowcowych form rzeźby terenu jest zagadnieniem w geomorfologii, które nie było szeroko badane za pomocą metod głębokich sieci neuronowych. W niniejszym opracowaniu wykorzystano architekturę Vision Transformer (ViT) do klasyfikacji lodowcowych form terenu przy użyciu cyfrowego modelu wysokościowego (DEM) w trzech badanych miejscach ...

Automated classification of landform elements using object-based image analysis

Geomorphology, 2006
This paper presents an automated classification system of landform elements based on object-oriented image analysis. First, several data layers are produced from Digital Terrain Models (DTM): elevation, profile curvature, plan curvature and slope gradient. Second, relatively homogenous objects are delineated at several levels through image segmentation.

Earthquake risk evaluation using landforms processed by unsupervised classification method

2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
We present an earthquake risk evaluation using landforms classified by unsupervised method and a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) in order to get ground condition without surface study. The classified landforms are adopted for the amplification factor in order to calculate the peak ground velocity (V max ) of the ground motion.

Object oriented classification of coastal landform based on texton theory

2016 IEEE International Conference on Signal and Image Processing (ICSIP), 2016
This paper focus on classification of coastal landform. The study area is locate in QinZhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, using GF-1 image. In view of complex coastal landform, the current study firstly transforming RGB model to CIE LAB model, dividing image based on colour gradient, then conducting Gabor filtering and PCA transformation to

ON A LANDFORM CLASSIFICATION AND SOME PROBLEMS OF TERMINOLOGY

Soviet Geography, 1975
A paleogeomorphologist proposes a classification of the earth's landforms that would reflect the shaping of surface relief as a continuous process since the beginnings of the earth. In his view, the relief of former outer surfaces of the earth, now invisible to the observer, needs to be included in such a classification on the same basis as the relief ...
