SOIL, SITE AND LAND CLASSIFICATION [PDF]

open access: yesThe Forestry Chronicle, 1962
Forest management is a kind of land management, and the forester's attention is increasingly drawn to the physical land base from which forestry values derive.Various approaches to the inventory of forest land are discussed: through soil classification with its inherited agronomic background, through site classification whose yardstick is productivity,

Task‐Oriented Path Planning Towards Autonomous Sensor Network Deployment in Rainforest Canopies

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
An informative path planner for drone‐based deployment of wireless sensor networks in rainforest canopies is presented, addressing key challenges in large‐scale biodiversity monitoring. By integrating canopy surface detection with connectivity‐aware sampling under strict flight constraints, the approach enables efficient and reliable aerial sensor ...

Technical Feasibility Study of Autonomous Field Robot‐Based on‐the‐go Assessment of Soil Nutrients Using Ion‐Sensitive Field‐Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Autonomous field robots equipped with ISFET‐based sensors enable rapid, spatially resolved soil nutrient analysis directly in the field. An automated system based on the BoniRob platform is presented for standardized on‐site extraction and measurement of key macronutrients and soil pH.

Iron‐Mediated Release of Aged Dissolved Organic Carbon From Waterlogged Peatland Under Warming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study conducts a five‐year in situ warming experiment in high‐altitude peatlands to examine dissolved organic carbon (DOC) release. The study shows that warming promotes the release of plant‐derived modern DOC in drained peatlands, but amplifies aquatic export of century‐old DOC from waterlogged peatlands via Fe‐mediated DOC mobilization—a ...

Microbial quality, aflatoxin content and nutrient degradation of silver cyprinid stored at landing sites and in markets in Uganda

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2020
Silver cyprinid (Rastrineobola argentea) is a nutritious and low-cost source of proteins for food and feed. Processing and storage of silver cyprinid are still sub-optimal and may therefore impact on its quality and safety.

A Worm‐Inspired Origami Robot with Multimodal Locomotion for Adaptive Mobility in Complex Pipeline Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An origami worm‐inspired robot achieves multimodal locomotion in confined pipelines through mechatronic integration that embeds actuation, control, and communication within each origami module. Large, reversible configuration and dimensional changes enable 25 gaits synthesized by a unified framework across peristaltic, inchworm, and wheel‐rolling modes
