Mechanisms of Degradation in Li‐Ion Batteries Under Low Temperature Exposures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐temperature exposures, or freeze‐thaw cycles, are observed to significantly accelerate the degradation of Li‐ion batteries. A combination of electrolyte phase separation and mechanochemical stress leads to reversible and irreversible performance losses.

Trends and Environmental Drivers of Marine Fish Landings in Cuba’s Most Productive Shelf Area

open access: yesFishes
Marine finfish landings in Cuba have decreased during the last 30 years. However, in Cuba’s most productive fishing region, certain species, including rays, herrings, and snappers, have had increased landings over the past decade. Despite these anomalies,

Charge‐Tunable Coacervate Micelles for Separator Engineering in Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A separator engineering strategy based on charge‐tunable complex coacervate core micelles (C3Ms) is presented to form an ion‐selective layer regulating polysulfide transport in Li–S batteries. The micelles enable uniform adsorption onto commercial polypropylene separators and infiltration throughout the internal pore network, suppressing polysulfide ...

Network Topology Governs Photocatalytic Water Splitting in Organic Two‐Dimensional Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Network topology in organic two‐dimensional crystals (O2DCs) dictates the photocatalytic water splitting performance. Kagome‐lattice O2DCs exhibit strong electron‐hole mass asymmetry, spatially separated carriers, and longer recombination lifetimes, exceeding rhombic isomers.

Stability of Medicinal Nanoemulsions to Spaceflight: Insights From the StarMed Experiment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chitosan‐coated melatonin nanoemulsions (MN) recovered from a sounding rocket mission preserve droplet size and controlled‐release behavior, whereas uncoated nanoemulsions show ageing‐driven droplet growth and increased accessible drug fraction. Simple polymer coatings thus enhance the flight resilience of liquid space medicines under cumulative launch

Trends in spatio-temporal distribution of Peruvian anchovy and other small pelagic fish biomass from 1966-2009 Tendencias espacio-temporales en la distribución de la biomasa de anchoveta peruana y de otros peces pelágicos pequenos entre 1966 y 2009

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2012
Changes in abundance and distribution of anchovy and other species of pelagic fish of the Northern Humboldt Current System (NHCS) are driven by environmental forcing variations in different time and spatial scales between the coastal 'cold' ecosystem and

Causal relationships in king’s littleneck clam fisheries (Ameghinomya antiqua, P.P. King, 1832), Los Lagos Region, Chile

open access: yesAquatic Living Resources
This study investigates the network of causal relationships in the king’s littleneck clam (Ameghinomya antiqua) fishery in the southern zone of the Los Lagos Region, Chile, using the Convergent Cross Mapping (CCM) method.

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...

Dynamic shifts and a drastic decline in reported landings for southern Gulf of St. Lawrence commercial clam fisheries over the past two decades

open access: yesFACETS
Clams constitute an important socioeconomic and Indigenous resource in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence (sGSL); however, detailed analyses of commercial clam fisheries are outdated. I provide a synthesis of sGSL clam landings from 2003 to 2022.

Shark fisheries in the Southeast Pacific: A 61-year analysis from Peru [version 2; referees: 1 approved, 2 approved with reservations]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2016
Peruvian waters exhibit high conservation value for sharks. This contrasts with a lag in initiatives for their management and a lack of studies about their biology, ecology and fishery. We investigated the dynamics of Peruvian shark fishery and its legal
