Development of landmine detection robot

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
Landmines are still a never-ending problem. Due to the conflicts and war in the previous centuries, a lot of landmines have been buried which are active still today and de-mining them is a difficult, dangerous and time consuming task. As in the regular manner if the solution is expected it involves loss of human life which is not acceptable. Technology

Moisture and landmine detection

EUREL International Conference. The Detection of Abandoned Land Mines: A Humanitarian Imperative Seeking a Technical Solution, 1996
A landmine detection technique is proposed, based on differences in moisture content of the mine and the surrounding soil. Microwave radiation is used to heat the soil containing the mine. The moist soil is warmed far more than the mine. This produces temperature differences at the surface which can be detected by infra-red scanning.

GPR modeling for landmine detection

2010 URSI International Symposium on Electromagnetic Theory, 2010
Ground penetrating radar (GPR), which can detect shallow buried low dielectric contrast objects in a variety of soils by non-invasive subsurface sensing, is a promising technology for imaging low-metal or non-metallic landmines. In this paper we present a complete model of a complex GPR scenario which is solved via finite element method, and includes ...

Ardunio controlled landmine detection robot

2017 Third International Conference on Science Technology Engineering & Management (ICONSTEM), 2017
Land mine detection is most crucial during ware fare to deploy armed vehicle drive in the enemy territory. These armed vehicle or Main battle tanks are used to follow the path of pilot tank operated manually to avoid damage/distraction of the battle tank and defence causalities of defence crews.

Landmine detection using model selection

SPIE Proceedings, 2001
Landmine detection can be cast as a model selection problem in which probability theory is used as logic for inductive inference. Using this method, the landmine detection decision is based on the values of calculated posterior probabilities for two propositions: 'The received signal is from a landmine' and 'The received signal is from the background.'

Surveillance Drone for Landmine Detection

2015 International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communications (ADCOM), 2015
Mine detection using a surveillance drone is a modern conceptual prototype, which has been designed to detect landmines. Landmines were primarily used to create defensive and tactical barriers during the Second World War. They are still very much employed in large quantities in countries such as Afghanistan, Korea.

Wireless robo-Pi landmine detection

2017 First International Conference on Landmine: Detection, Clearance and Legislations (LDCL), 2017
The tremendous recent involvement of technology in our life generates a lot of advantages and disadvantages. Nevertheless, and in order to highly augment its positive influence, at the expense of the negatives, technology most be deployed to serve humanity and society.

Syntactic landmine detection and classification

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
A high range resolution ground penetrating radar signal is processed to convert the A-scan data into a binary valued string in which a one represents the location of an impedance change and a zero otherwise. For non-metallic landmines it has been shown that this pattern is unique and can be used to discriminate among landmines and clutter.

Landmine detection with holographic radar

2016 16th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), 2016
Holographic radar is a promising method of detecting landmines. Taking advantage of high plan-view resolution, holographic radar is able to discriminate targets from clutter objects. However, as high-frequency electromagnetic waves attenuate fast in soil, the performance of holographic radar in field experiments needs to be validated. Hence, we conduct

Visual cues for landmine detection

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Can human vision supplement the information that handheld landmine detection equipment provides its operators to increase detection rates and reduce the hazard of the task? Contradictory viewpoints exist regarding the viability of visual detection of landmines.
