Active fire detection using Landsat-8/OLI data
AbstractThe gradual increase in Landsat-class data availability creates new opportunities for fire science and management applications that require higher-fidelity information about biomass burning, improving upon existing coarser spatial resolution (≥1km) satellite active fire data sets. Targeting those enhanced capabilities we describe an active fire

Food without fire: Environmental and nutritional impacts from a solar stove field experiment
Abstract Over 80% of the population in rural Sub‐Saharan Africa relies on biomass cooking fuel, a substantial source of anthropogenic greenhouse gases. We use a field experiment in Zambia to investigate the impact of solar stoves on biomass fuel use and cooking habits.

Two orders of wall‐to‐wall geographic data
Short Abstract The use of the term ‘wall‐to‐wall’ to describe geographically extensive data without any singular definition in the remote sensing and geographically related analysis. This work presents an assessment of the application of the term in the scientific literature. Abstract From personal observations of recent published works, the term “wall‐

This study examines the distribution and morphology of lakes under the Laurentide Ice Sheet (LIS) to investigate relationships with ice flow velocity, bedrock and basal thermal regime. Palaeo‐ice streams and lobes were important components of the LIS, and properties of lakes in those regions are quantified at high resolution.
