Evaluation of the Landsat-5 TM and Landsat-7 ETM+ surface reflectance products
Remote Sensing of Environment, 2015Abstract Maintaining consistent datasets of Surface Reflectance (SR) is an important challenge to ensure long-term quality of Climate Data Records. The Landsat 5 and 7 archives offer a unique data source to monitor globally the land surface at high spatial resolution.

Landsat 5/Landsat 7 underfly cross-calibration experiment
SPIE Proceedings, 2000There was a one-time opportunity to obtain nearly coincident coverage from both Landsat 5 and Landsat 7 as Landsat 7 drifted to its final orbital position during the initialization and verification phase following launch. During the underfly period, Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) data were collected using the U.S Landsat 7 ground ...

Landsat-7 and Landsat-5 thermal band calibration updates
SPIE Proceedings, 2009ABSTRACT Landsat-7 ETM+, launched in April 1999, and Landsat-5 TM, launched in 1984, both have a single thermal band. Both instruments thermal band calibrations have been updated: ETM+ in 2001 for a pre-launch calibration error and TM in 2007 for data acquired since the current era of vicarious ca libration has been in place (1999) .

Radiometric calibration status of Landsat-7 and Landsat-5
SPIE Proceedings, 2007Launched in April 1999, Landsat-7 ETM+ continues to acquire data globally. The Scan Line Corrector in failure in 2003 has affected ground coverage and the recent switch to Bumper Mode operations in April 2007 has degraded the internal geometric accuracy of the data, but the radiometry has been unaffected.

Cross-calibration of the Landsat-4 and Landsat-5 thematic mappers
SPIE Proceedings, 2005The Landsat Thematic Mappers have obtained imagery of the Earth's surface since 1982 with the launch of Landsat 4. However, the absolute calibration of this first instrument, as well as it's cross-calibration to the other two thematic mappers on Landsat 5 and 7, remains in question.

Landsat-5 Thematic Mapper outgassing effects
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2004A periodic 3% to 5% variation in detector response affecting both image and internal calibrator (IC) data has been observed in bands 5 and 7 of the Landsat-5 Thematic Mapper. The source for this variation is thought to be an interference effect due to buildup of an ice-like contaminant film on a ZnSe window, covered with an antireflective coating (ARC),
