Diurnal Air–Surface Temperature Dynamics in Hong Kong: An Analysis Across Land Use and Climate Zones

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Daytime and nighttime air temperature (Ta) from automatic weather stations and land surface temperature (Ts) derived from ASTER and Landsat 8–9 are used to examine the relationship between Ta and Ts. The spatial and statistical characteristics of Ta − Ts dynamics are further analysed across land use (LU) and local climate zones (LCZ).

Spatiotemporal Evolution of Hydroclimatic Variables in the Brazilian Semi‐Arid Region Through the Aridity Index and Susceptibility to Desertification

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Over the past 60 years, noticeable changes have been observed in the main hydroclimatological variables, driven by both natural and anthropogenic factors. In the context of climate change, such behaviour may adversely affect the state's economic activities, as well as increase the recurrence of extreme events in the region.

Determinação do saldo radiativo na Ilha do Bananal, TO, com imagens orbitais Determination of the net radiation in Bananal Island, TO with orbital images

Land surface temperature retrieval from LANDSAT TM 5

open access: yesRemote Sensing of Environment, 2004
In this paper, three methods to retrieve the land surface temperature (LST) from thermal infrared data supplied by band 6 of the Thematic Mapper (TM) sensor onboard the Landsat 5 satellite are compared. The first of them lies on the estimation of the land surface temperature from the radiative transfer equation using in situ radiosounding data.

Nutritional and reproductive dynamics of moose near their southern range limit

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Though southern moose (Alces alces) had relatively low seasonal fluctuations in body fat, their condition was positively associated with pregnancy and adult survival but did not influence recruitment of young. We demonstrated clear signs of nutritional limitation and unexpected patterns of reproductive performance that may be unique to moose living at ...

Landsat 9 Cross Calibration Under-Fly of Landsat 8: Planning, and Execution

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
During the early post-launch phase of the Landsat 9 mission, the Landsat 8 and 9 mission teams conducted a successful under-fly of Landsat 8 by Landsat 9, allowing for the near-simultaneous data collection of common Earth targets by the on-board sensors ...

Contingency plans set for Landsat 5 and 7 [PDF]

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 2012
With the Landsat 5 Earth observation satellite failing due to a rapidly degrading electronic component, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is exploring ways to alleviate a data gap if both Landsat 5 and 7 fail prior to the planned launch of Landsat 8—known as the Landsat Data Continuity Mission—in 2013. USGS director Marcia McNutt told Eos that although
