A land use change model: Integrating landscape pattern indexes and Markov-CA

Ecological Modelling, 2014
Abstract Landscape pattern indexes are quantitative descriptions of the spatial composition and configuration of land use, which can influence a variety of ecological phenomena. In this paper, we propose a land use change simulation model based on landscape pattern indexes, Markov chain and cellular automata.

Weighted misclassification rate: a new measure of classification error designed for landscape pattern index

Remote Sensing Letters, 2012
Thematic maps classified from remotely sensed data are usually used to derive landscape pattern index (LPI). As the classification error can propagate into the LPI calculation, correctly estimating the LPI error caused by the classification error is necessary in order to obtain a reliable landscape analysis.

Preliminary Comparison of Landscape Pattern–Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) Relationships to Central Plains Stream Conditions

Journal of Environment Quality, 2002
ABSTRACTWe explored relationships of water quality parameters with landscape pattern metrics (LPMs), land use–land cover (LULC) proportions, and the advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) or NDVI‐derived metrics.

Detecting Spatiotemporal Dynamic Landscape Patterns Using Remote Sensing and the Lacunarity Index: A Case Study of Haikou City, China

Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design, 2007
Quantifying the landscape pattern and its dynamics is essential for the monitoring and assessment of the ecological consequences of urbanization. As one of the Special Economic Zones, Haikou is one of the fastest growing regions among all Chinese cities, owing to rapid real estate development.

Examining the relationship between the landscape pattern index and thermal comfort at the small town level to optimize the landscape pattern: take the central area of Shanghang County as an example

International Journal of Biometeorology
The global "high-temperature heat wave" is becoming increasingly severe, and the in-depth advancement of new urbanization construction has put the construction of small towns in full swing. Solving the desire of small-town residents for an ecological and livable environment from the perspective of thermal comfort can promote the high-quality ...

Scenario-based evaluation of urban development sustainability: an integrative modeling approach to compromise between urbanization suitability index and landscape pattern

Environment, Development and Sustainability, 2014
Sustainability analysis of urban complex systems, as an interdisciplinary study, necessitates integrative modeling approaches for analyzing relationships between land parameters and landscape patterns. The present paper emphasizes applicability of dynamic and scenario-based investigation of urban environments for understanding the interactions between ...

Multi-scale analysis of the relationship between landscape patterns and a water quality index (WQI) based on a stepwise linear regression (SLR) and geographically weighted regression (GWR) in the Ebinur Lake oasis

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2017
Water quality is highly dependent on landscape characteristics. This study explored the relationships between landscape patterns and water quality in the Ebinur Lake oasis in China. The water quality index (WQI) has been used to identify threats to water quality and contribute to better water resource management.

[Effects of vegetation cover and normalized difference moisture index on thermal landscape pattern: a case study of Guangzhou, South China].

Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2014
By using Landsat-5 TM images, the land surface temperature (LST), vegetation cover, and normalized difference moisture index (NDMI) in different areas of Guangzhou were extracted, and the effects of vegetation cover and NDMI on the land surface temperature of the City were studied, based on the landscape ecological methodologies.

Simplified Ecological Planning Method for Sustainable Landscape Management by Humantope Index: Patterns of Land-Use Continuity, Historical Land Use and Landownership

2013
The adaptability of the McHarg planning method seems high. However, separated multiple ecological factors must be evaluated for every land-use proposal. The LPPV method needs only two factors (layers): potential natural vegetation and land form. Nevertheless, the artificial environment such as a city area cannot be evaluated using the vegetation ...
