ABSTRACT Major incidents (MIs) represent critical contingency failures that expose deep, systemic vulnerabilities within the inter‐organizational crisis management ecosystem. These weaknesses transcend mere logistical shortcomings, revealing a profound inability to manage the inherent “wicked” nature of complex, uncertain crises.

Studying Up From an In‐Between Position: A Reflection on Elite Research in Nepal
ABSTRACT In this article, I examine the methodological and ethical challenges of ‘studying up’ as a global south researcher through my experience studying climate policy elites in Nepal. I explore three dimensions of this process: first, the opportunities and tensions of occupying an in‐between positionality shaped by dual institutional affiliations ...

Colombia and other tropical regions face a very high threat from torrential floods, which have resulted in over 25,000 deaths in a single event. Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive assessment methodology to zone and determine the magnitude of these disasters; therefore, this research aims to help fill this gap.

We developed an integrated GAM–Bayesian framework to diagnose the nonlinear recovery dynamics of vegetation in landslide‐affected areas. Our model reveals that most sites reached a key recovery inflection point within 5–7 years, with faster recovery occurring under warm, moist, and moderate light conditions.
