Caring with forests: Human and more‐than‐human care in forest occupations in Germany

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Drawing on ongoing ethnographic and participatory action research within forest occupations in Germany, this paper develops the concept of ‘caring with forests’ to theorise the mutual, multidimensional relationships of care that emerge between humans and more‐than‐human beings in environmental protest settings.

Hillslope memory and spatial and temporal distributions of earthquake-induced landslides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Large earthquakes commonly trigger widespread and destructive landsliding. However, current approaches to modeling regional-scale landslide activity do not account for the temporal evolution of progressive failure in brittle hillslope materials ...

Incorporating spatial heterogeneity into landslide susceptibility assessment: a GWRF–SHAP new method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Earth
Landslide susceptibility assessment is essential for effective risk mitigation; however, conventional machine learning models often struggle to capture spatial heterogeneity and lack interpretability, resulting in limited generalization capability.

STRATIFIED ADAPTATION: Infrastructure, Elevation, and Cascading Floods in the Urban Mekong Delta

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Flood‐prone cities in the global South are increasingly the target of infrastructure projects aimed at building climate ‘resilience’. At the same time, residents of these cities take adaptation to flooding into their own hands. In this article we examine the interrelationship between household‐scale and urban‐scale flood mitigation projects in

Measuring Agricultural Wages Amidst Conflict: Evidence From Myanmar

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Violent conflict is globally on the rise, and an increasing body of literature analyses its impacts on agricultural production and food security. Yet the quality of data collected in conflict zones is sometimes questioned and remains underexplored. This paper addresses this gap by examining two types of reporting bias—recall and question order
