When Density Matters: Hydraulic and Salinity Evolution in Groundwater‐Fed Pit Lakes in Semiarid and Arid Climates

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Pit lakes in semiarid and arid regions are often assumed to be terminal sinks for groundwater following mine closure. Using synthetic numerical modeling, we demonstrate that evaporation‐driven density gradients can reverse this behavior, transforming pit lakes into throughflow systems and potentially increasing salinity in adjacent aquifers.

Simulating the Impacts of Deep Geothermal Development on Shallow Hydrothermal Resources in a Rocky Mountain Rift Valley

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Abstract Numerical modeling has been widely used to assess the feasibility of geothermal energy development at sites across the world, but modeling applications simulating the potential impacts on shallow hydrothermal resources and surface water are relatively scarce. In this study, we apply the MODFLOW 6 groundwater energy (GWE) code to simulate fully

Beat‐to‐beat variability of ventricular repolarization reveals sex‐specific instability and proarrhythmic risk

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend A mechanistic framework linking sex‐dependent dynamical instability to proarrhythmic risk. Sex‐specific human ventricular models show that upstream modulators, including biological sex, hormones, drugs and heart disease, promote steeper APD restitution in female than male and enhance dynamical instability.

Invariant Measure and Universality of the 2D Yang–Mills Langevin Dynamic

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 8, Page 1973-2102, August 2026.
ABSTRACT We prove that the Yang–Mills (YM) measure for the trivial principal bundle over the two‐dimensional torus, with any connected, compact structure group, is invariant for the associated renormalised Langevin dynamic. Our argument relies on a combination of regularity structures, lattice gauge‐fixing and Bourgain's method for invariant measures ...

Integrating simultaneous interfacial shear rheology with neutron reflectometry for structural and dynamic analysis of fluid interfacial systems. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Appl Crystallogr
We present a new setup at the FIGARO horizontal neutron reflectometer enabling simultaneous measurement of the structural and mechanical properties of liquid interfaces, combining neutron reflectometry with interfacial shear rheology. The study of the structure and mechanical properties of complex fluid interfaces has attracted growing interest in ...

Enantioselective Separation and Negative Transport of Chiral Particles via Optical Needle Fields

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 13, 13 July 2026.
This work proposes an all‐optical strategy that leverages a tailored optical needle field for the enantioselective separation and 3D manipulation of chiral particles. By introducing phase modulation, we engineer a dual‐needle configuration capable of spatially separating and negatively transporting both enantiomers within a single system, offering a ...
