On the Complexity of Coordinated Table Selective Substitution Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We investigate computational resources used by Turing machines (TMs) and alternating Turing machines (ATMs) to accept languages generated by coordinated table selective substitution systems with two components. We prove that the class of languages generated by real-time (RL; 0S)-systems, an alternative device to generate lambda-free labeled marked ...

Commutative Languages and their Composition by Consensual Methods [PDF]

open access: yesEPTCS 151, 2014, pp. 216-230, 2014
Commutative languages with the semilinear property (SLIP) can be naturally recognized by real-time NLOG-SPACE multi-counter machines. We show that unions and concatenations of such languages can be similarly recognized, relying on -- and further developing, our recent results on the family of consensually regular (CREG) languages.

Dose rate correction of a diode array for universal wedge field dosimetric verification

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To study the performance of MapCHECK 3 (MC3) in measuring universal wedge fields and propose a dose rate correction strategy to improve MC3 measurement accuracy. Materials and methods Universal wedge fields with different wedge angles and field sizes were measured at different depths using MC3.

MY ChatGPT TEACHER. TOWARDS A METHODOLOGY FOR USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING

open access: yesSCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND EDUCATION IN THE AIR FORCE, 2023
Language is the distinctive feature separating humans from the rest of the animal world. Therefore, throughout history, inventions and technologies that changed the way we use language have been crucial turning points.

LangSplat: 3D Language Gaussian Splatting [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Humans live in a 3D world and commonly use natural language to interact with a 3D scene. Modeling a 3D language field to support open-ended language queries in 3D has gained increasing attention recently. This paper introduces LangSplat, which constructs a 3D language field that enables precise and efficient open-vocabulary querying within 3D spaces ...

Design and validation of a novel dosimetry phantom for motion management audits

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background We present a novel phantom design for conducting end‐to‐end dosimetry audits for respiratory motion management of two anatomical treatment sites. The design enables radiochromic film measurements of the dose administered to the target throughout the respiratory cycle (motion‐included) and the dose delivered to the time‐averaged ...

Pretrained Language Models as Containers of the Discursive Knowledge

open access: yesComputer Sciences & Mathematics Forum
Discourses can be treated as instances of knowledge. The dynamic space in which the trajectories of these discourses are described can be regarded as a model of knowledge. Such a space is called a discursive space.

Les représentations cognitives : pour une mise en évidence de leur rôle dans l'appropriation des langues

open access: yesCorela, 2014
Some studies on second language learning show that learners cannot reach the level of native speakers. Even at an advanced stage, learners' productions can be characterized by phenomena known as "fossilisation" and "nativisation" (Selinker & Lamendella ...

Composing Across Modes: An Empirical Investigation into Chinese EFL Learners’ Digital Multimodal Composing Practice

open access: yesAdvances in Education, Humanities and Social Science Research, 2023
By adopting a mixed research method, this study made a preliminary investigation into the DMC (digital multimodal composing) practice in China’s EFL (English as a foreign language) teaching.

Tracking the Language of Space and Time, 1948-2008

open access: yesJournal of Contemporary History, 2011
This article explores how contemporary historians can avail themselves of quantitative approaches to examine how elusive concepts like ‘time’ and ‘space’ have been used in the public domain. By making use of specifically designed programs, historians can use digital tools to harness an unprecedented mass of information.
