A Review of the Hepatotoxic PlantLantana camara

Critical Reviews in Toxicology, 2007
Lantana (Lantana camara Linn) is a noxious weed that grows in many tropical and subtropical parts of the world. Ingestion of lantana foliage by grazing animals causes cholestasis and hepatotoxicity. Both ruminants and nonruminant animals such as guinea pigs, rabbits, and female rats are susceptible to the hepatotoxic action of lantana toxins.

A Review of the Toxicity of Lantana camara (Linn) in Animals

Clinical Toxicology, 1981
Lantana poisoning has been taking a heavy toll of livestock year after year. All aspects of the problem are reviewed. Lantana poisoning in cattle, sheep, buffalo, and guinea pigs caused obstructive jaundice, photosensitization, and rise in serum glutamicoxaloaetic transaminase activity.

The effect of Lantana camara on intestinal motility in sheep

Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1978
Pressure changes occurring in the duodenum, jejunum, caecum and spiral colon of sheep were recorded to assess the affect of lantana on intestinal motility. Lantana did not affect the responses of the duodenum to pentagastrin given intravenously or to hydrochloric acid given into the duodenum.

Herbicidal Control of Largeleaf Lantana (Lantana camara)

Weed Technology, 2012
Largeleaf lantana is a perennial shrub that commonly infests pastures, roadsides, and natural areas. Many experiments have been conducted to manage this weed, but few successful herbicides have been found. Little information is available for the effectiveness of fluroxypyr, aminopyralid, or aminocyclopyrachlor on largeleaf lantana.
