Lap splice performance of textured epoxy-coated zero-magnetic steel bars in concrete beams

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering
With the development of precision in magnetic measurement technologies, environmental residual magnetism can significantly affect detection accuracy. Conventional steel bars in reinforced concrete structures are the main source of additional magnetic ...

Performance Study of Mechanical Coupler and Lap Splice of Rebar in Reinforced Concrete Structure using Finite Element Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The length of reinforcement bar is limited to facilitate fabrication, transportation, or storage capacity, and this limitation makes it impossible to provide full-length continuous rebar in most reinforced concrete structure.

Mechanical Behavior of Grouted Sleeve Butt and Lap Joints with Anti-Deflection Measures Under Uniaxial Tension and High-Stress Cyclic Loading

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To compare the mechanical performance differences between sleeve grouting lap and butt joints, a total of 41 lap joints, including 27 standard lap joints and 14 anti-deflection lap joints, and 20 butt joints were subjected to tensile and high-stress ...

Lap splice assessment of GFRP rebars in reinforced concrete beams under flexure [PDF]

open access: yes
To increase the knowledge and experience gained from the existing literature regarding the bond behavior of glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebars, a total of sixteen full-scale GFRP-reinforced concrete beams were subjected to a four-point bending ...

Drift Capacity of Reinforced Concrete Walls with Lap Splices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Twelve large-scale reinforced concrete (RC) specimens were tested at Purdue University’s Bowen Laboratory to evaluate the deformability of structural walls with longitudinal lap splices at their bases. Eight specimens were tested under four-point bending

Splicing behaviour of GFRP, BFRP, and steel bars in reinforced concrete beams

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
Fiber-reinforced-polymers (FRPs) have gained popularity as a substitute for conventional steel bars in reinforced concrete, yet there remain specific knowledge gaps in the behavior of lap-spliced glass and basalt bars.

Lap-slip model of rebar-to-concrete in RC/ECC/UHPC based on GA-BP neural network

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Rebar lap splicing is a widely used method of reinforcement connection in precast concrete structures, and the lap-slip model serves as an important prerequisite for conducting detailed mechanical calculations of reinforced concrete lap splice members ...

Optimizing Lap Splice Lengths for GFRP and BFRP Bars in High-Strength Concrete Beams: An Experimental Study

open access: yesJournal of Composites Science
In this paper, the bond performance of tensile lap-spliced Glass and Basalt Fiber-Reinforced Polymer bars is investigated in high-strength concrete. Eighteen large-scale GFRP-reinforced concrete beams were fabricated and subjected to four-point loading. Key parameters explored included bar diameter and splice length for both GFRP and BFRP reinforcement.
