Laparoscopic-adapted Blumgart pancreaticojejunostomy in laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy [PDF]
Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD) is a complex procedure that is becoming increasingly popular among surgeons. Postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) remains the most feared specific complication in reconstruction after PD. The Blumgart anastomosis (BA) has been established as one of the safest anastomosis for pancreas remnant reconstruction,

A Global Optimization Method for Specular Highlight Removal From a Single Image
The presence of specular highlight is a critical issue for both natural and medical images such as those produced by laparoscopes, which can lead to erroneous visual tracking, stereo reconstruction, and image segmentation. Specular highlight removal from

Expanding the Taxonomy of Ethical Issues in Surgical Innovation
ABSTRACT Surgical innovation poses significant ethical challenges. Previous work has grouped these challenges under four categories: potential harms to patients; compromised informed consent; unfair allocation of healthcare resources; and conflicts of interest. We argue that recent technological developments in surgery warrant the addition of three new

Laparoscopic embryo transfer in Tuj ewes induces less oxidative stress and better preserves thiol–disulphide homeostasis than laparotomy. These findings indicate that minimally invasive approaches better maintain redox balance and antioxidant defence during embryo transfer procedures.
