The economics of laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication
Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2003A major impetus for laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication (LNF) is its purported cost savings compared with medical therapy, but few studies have examined these economic outcomes. The aim was to analyze health care costs and use among a cohort of patients undergoing LNF and compare them with patients with medically treated gastroesophageal reflux disease (

Laparoscopic Versus Conventional Fundoplication
Journal of Laparoendoscopic Surgery, 1995The operative and short-term results of 29 patients who had an open fundoplication were compared to 36 patients who had a laparoscopic fundoplication. The operative time was 2.8 +/- 0.4 and 3.1 +/- 0.3 h for the open and laparoscopic procedure, respectively.

A simplified approach to laparoscopic fundoplication
Surgical Endoscopy, 1997There is a certain amount of controversy regarding the need to divide the short gastric vessels (SGV) in laparoscopic fundoplication for treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In addition, there is often difficulty in identifying the crural fibers when encircling the lower esophagus. We determine whether it is necessary to divide the SGV ...

Complications of Laparoscopic Fundoplication in the Elderly
Surgical Laparoscopy, Endoscopy & Percutaneous Techniques, 2003Our objective was to assess the complications of laparoscopic fundoplication in 77 patients older than 70 years of age. The indications for surgery were (1) complications of reflux esophagitis (n = 17), (2) large hiatal hernia (n = 10), (3) asthma and bronchitis (n = 7), (4) the need for other surgery (n = 13), and (5) a patient's desire to discontinue

Training system for laparoscopic fundoplication
Minimally Invasive Therapy & Allied Technologies, 2003Laparoscopic fundoplication is widely used today as a surgical standard for gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). However, the procedures are complicated and require advanced laparoscopic skills. In addition, surgical complications correlate with the surgeon's technique and experience. Thus, a training course in laparoscopic fundoplication should be

Laparoscopic fundoplication in infants and children
Surgical Endoscopy, 1996Laparoscopic fundoplication is a new method for treating gastroesophageal reflux in children. We present 160 children with gastroesophageal reflux treated by laparoscopic fundoplication.Patients underwent either a laparoscopic Nissen or Toupet fundoplication. Many patients also required gastrostomies and gastric outlet procedures.Twelve patients (7.5%)

Laparoscopic floppy Nissen fundoplication
The American Journal of Surgery, 1999Good results for antireflux surgery are obtained when proper patients are selected, trained surgeons perform the operation, and proper techniques are used. As our prior results showed higher rates of dysphagia without fundus mobilization (Nissen-Rossetti fundoplication), we now perform complete mobilization on all patients.

Surgical technology international, 2015
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common disorder of the foregut. Over the past twenty-five years the developement of instrumentation and techniques to study GERD have revealed it to be a complex disorder. Increasingly effective pharmacotherapeutics have been developed over the same time frame.

Laparoscopic Nissen-Rossetti fundoplication
Surgical Endoscopy, 1994Although antireflux surgery offers very good results and patient's satisfaction, the referral rate to the surgeon remains very low. We present our experience with a less-invasive procedure that would result in minimal pain and very rapid return to normal activities and thus might lead to earlier referral.
