Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy

Journal of Endourology, 2005
With continuing rapid changes in endourology, we conducted a new survey of practice trends and expanded our sampling to include non-American urologists. The survey was done via the Internet using the database for the 2003 World Congress of Endourology. Approximately 1100 surveys were sent, and responses were received from 193 urologists, who had been in

Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy

BJU International, 2007
In properly selected patients, partial nephrectomy yields oncologic efficacy similar to that of traditional radical nephrectomy. We have performed more than 415 laparoscopic radical nephrectomies over the 5-year period beginning in September 1999. All patients undergo a three-dimensional CT scan with 3-mm sections prior to the operation.

Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy

Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations, 2000
Abstract Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy is technically difficult but oncologically effective. The operation should be performed in centers with expertise. Hemostasis can be achieved using bipolar coagulation and fibrin glue-coated cellulose. Further studies will determine whether less invasive alternatives (focused ultrasound, cryotherapy) will ...

Laparoscopic radical and partial nephrectomy

World Journal of Urology, 2000
Laparoscopic nephrectomy has been an alternative to open surgery for benign renal disease since Clayman et al. published the first report of successful laparoscopic nephrectomy in 1991 [5]. Since then, institutions worldwide have published case reports and series of patients treated with laparoscopic simple nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy (LRN ...

Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy in Octogenarians

Urology, 2009
To assess the safety and technical feasibility of laparoscopic partial nephrectomy in patients aged >or=80 years at our institution to determine whether this treatment modality may be justifiable in select octogenarians. As the US population ages, an increasing number of elderly patients with renal masses are considered for partial nephrectomy.

Laparoscopic Retroperitoneal Partial Nephrectomy

Journal of Urology, 1994
To our knowledge we report the initial case of laparoscopic partial nephrectomy performed completely via the retroperitoneal approach. The retroperitoneal space was developed by inflating a balloon. Renal parenchymal hemostasis was obtained by a newly designed double loop apparatus and the argon beam coagulator.

Advances in laparoscopic partial nephrectomy

Current Opinion in Urology, 2004
The advantages of the laparoscopic approach in the management of kidney tumors are unequivocal and the role of laparoscopy in nephron-sparing surgery is evolving. In a selected group of patients with small exophytic renal tumors laparoscopic partial nephrectomy became an alternative to open partial nephrectomy.

Complications of laparoscopic partial nephrectomy

World Journal of Urology, 2008
To review the current evidence about laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) and its complications to define the role of this technique and to demonstrate specific operative modifications developed in a high volume laparoscopy centre. The most recent literature was reviewed based on a PubMed search to evaluate the current types and rates of surgical ...
