Extramucosal pyloromyotomy is a method with predictable morbidity and outcome for the cure of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. The method created by Ramstedt is successfully performed using a laparoscopic approach. Preliminary reports, including 266 cases treated by laparoscopic pyloromyotomy (LP), suggest that morbidity is comparable to that ...

Laparoscopic pyloromyotomy: a safer technique
Pediatric Surgery International, 1998A modified technique of laparoscopic pyloromyotomy was used to treat infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. Introducing a 5-mm periumbilical port for visualization, two stab wounds are made on either side laterally to directly insert 2.7-mm instruments for manipulation. From the left, the stomach is grasped - not the duodenum!

Laser laparoscopic vagotomy and pyloromyotomy
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 1991We performed bilateral truncal vagotomy and gastric drainage procedure using standard laparoscopic instruments in five mongrel dogs. The procedure consisted of a transthoracic thoracoscopic bilateral truncal vagotomy and transperitoneal laparoscopic pyloromyotomy. A contact Nd:YAG laser fiber was used.

An effective pyloromyotomy length in infants undergoing laparoscopic pyloromyotomy
Surgery, 2004Traditional management of pyloric stenosis has consisted of open pyloromyotomy during which the surgeon is able to palpate and determine whether the hypertrophied pylorus has been completely divided. During the last decade, laparoscopic pyloromyotomy has become an increasingly popular approach for this condition.

The learning curve for laparoscopic pyloromyotomy
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1997Over a 34-month period, 51 open and 33 laparoscopic pyloromyotomies were performed for infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. The patients' weight ranged from 1.2 to 5.3 kg. The mean operating time was 28 minutes for the open group and 41 minutes for the laparoscopic group. The average time to accept normal feeds was 41 hours in the open group and 32

Single-incision laparoscopic pyloromyotomy: initial experience
Surgical Endoscopy, 2009Laparoscopic pyloromyotomy has become the standard treatment for hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. Single-incision laparoscopic surgery is an emerging operative approach that utilizes the umbilical scar to hide the surgical incision. To describe our initial experience with single-incision laparoscopic pyloromyotomy in 15 infants.Laparoscopic pyloromyotomy ...

Laparoscopic Extramucosal Pyloromyotomy
1999Laparoscopic extramucosal pyloromytomy is an excellent alternative to the classical management of hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. In May 1990 we performed the first laparoscopic pyloromyotomy (Alain, Grousseau 1991a,b). A careful follow-up of our patients demonstrates the advantages of this approach.
