An effective pyloromyotomy length in infants undergoing laparoscopic pyloromyotomy
Surgery, 2004Traditional management of pyloric stenosis has consisted of open pyloromyotomy during which the surgeon is able to palpate and determine whether the hypertrophied pylorus has been completely divided. During the last decade, laparoscopic pyloromyotomy has become an increasingly popular approach for this condition.

Laparoscopic pyloromyotomy, the tail of the learning curve
Surgical Endoscopy, 2013The debate whether laparoscopic pyloromyotomy (LP) is superior to open pyloromyotomy (OP) remains actual. A recent review showed no benefit between the LP or OP, but in the studied randomized, controlled trials the learning curve was not addressed. Comparing LP including the learning curve with OP after the learning curve is questionable.

Infants undergoing pyloromyotomy are at a high risk of aspiration, making rapid sequence induction the preferred method of induction. Since succinylcholine use in infants can be associated with complications, rocuronium is frequently substituted despite ...

Is laparoscopic pyloromyotomy superior to open surgery?
Surgical Endoscopy, 1998We set out to determine whether laparoscopic pyloromyotomy (LPM) is superior to open pyloromyotomy (OPM) in babies with hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (HPS).We performed a retrospective study of 36 LPM and 36 OPM. Both groups were comparable in terms of sex, age and weight on admission, and blood pH on admission and prior to surgery.

Extramucosal pyloromyotomy is a method with predictable morbidity and outcome for the cure of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. The method created by Ramstedt is successfully performed using a laparoscopic approach. Preliminary reports, including 266 cases treated by laparoscopic pyloromyotomy (LP), suggest that morbidity is comparable to that ...

Risk of incomplete pyloromyotomy and mucosal perforation in open and laparoscopic pyloromyotomy
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2014Despite randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses, it remains unclear whether laparoscopic pyloromyotomy (LP) carries a higher risk of incomplete pyloromyotomy and mucosal perforation compared with open pyloromyotomy (OP).Multicenter study of all pyloromyotomies (May 2007-December 2010) at nine high-volume institutions.

I11 Laparoscopic pyloromyotomy
2013Laparoscopic pyloromyotomy is an uncomplicated operation but it requires meticulous attention to detail. Only 3 hand instruments are required for this operation.

A New Technique for Laparoscopic Pyloromyotomy
Pediatric Endosurgery & Innovative Techniques, 1998ABSTRACT We recently performed laparoscopic pyloromyotomy on five patients with infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. In the first case, the pylorus was incised using a Babcock intestinal clamp according to the procedure of laparoscopic pyloric traumamyoplasty reported by Castanon et al.

Laparoscopic Extramucosal Pyloromyotomy
1999Laparoscopic extramucosal pyloromytomy is an excellent alternative to the classical management of hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. In May 1990 we performed the first laparoscopic pyloromyotomy (Alain, Grousseau 1991a,b). A careful follow-up of our patients demonstrates the advantages of this approach.
